@DavidCGrabowski Thank you, David, for highlighting this article. Is it possible to turn this challenge into an opportunity to support home placements with Program for all-Inclusine Care for the Elderly (PACE), along side small Green House Project residences for placements only when necessary?

Nursing home and assisted living facility closures & sales...is this the beginning of massive consolidation in senior living or a continuation of a trend that began pre-pandemic? Too early to tell but impact on residents is significant either way bostonglobe.com/2022/10/09/met…

@AlanaOfficer @DrTedros @WHO Age-Friendly DC is looking forward to Dr. Tedros’ virtual presentation at the DC Task Force meeting Tues., Nov 15, which invites the public to attend. We have challenges focusing many DC residents on the importance of building to later years from childhood on.

@WalterGilliam Age-Friendly DC is mindful that in the nation’s Capitol the city invests in child care workers by recognizing that they are professionals. Do the data indicate that DC child care workers are healthier?

NEW STUDY! Our latest Yale-CARES paper, national sample of 81,682 early care & education professionals 2-3 months into pandemic — 46% with potentially diagnosable levels of depression, 67% moderate-high stress, 20% higher asthma rate. Brief thread. 1/10 medicine.yale.edu/childstudy/new…

@AlanaOfficer @DrTedros @UNDecadeAgeing Age-Friendly DC is at your side. We’ll get there. Special recognition to Yale’s Dr. Becca Levy for her work to change attitudes about growing older. Read “Breaking the Aging Code.”

@ASpankoNews Next? How to emulate Thome Rivertown for the missing middle?

@ASpankoNews The Thome Rivertown visit demonstrated what can be done to address affordable housing with PACE and Green House use as needed for older adults who qualify. With great leadership, who take pride in all who are living and working there, a national model has grown and flourished.

@stephenegordon @MaleehaRuhi Age-Friendly DC is really looking forward to having PACE in DC. We need to resolve the challenges for nursing home-eligible DC residents who would like to join PACE and pay themselves the Medicaid part. Resolve the challenge with prescription coverage ASAP.

It was such a pleasure to join my colleague Alan Abrams to present to George Washington University's Age Friendly Scholars Program today. #PACE plays a key role in #agefriendly communities, enabling #frail #olderadults to remain living at home and connected to their #community.

@AlanaOfficer @lucykellaway I read that article and decided to send it to the Age-Friendly DC Task Force. Lucy Kellaway cited Ashton Applewhite to undergird her column. Let’s add the FrameWorks Institute’s myths and facts about aging as well.

@GreenHouse_Proj @JAMDAcom In our future: Green Houses in DC neighborhoods. What’s not to like? Residents and families are very satisfied. Infection control measures are working.

“During the pandemic, Green House residents were recently found to be one-fifth as likely to get COVID-19 compared to those who live in typical nursing homes, and one-twentieth as likely to die from COVID-19 (ref. 12).” nature.com/articles/s4358…

@VivianHYee Thanks for your NYT article. I am a rower, headed to Cairo fall 2021 for a Nike cruise. Could you connect me with your contacts to see if any are willing to include me in a sweep Nile row?

Thank you one and all! I like my work. Age-Friendly Communities is WHO’s framework, based on the lifelong importance of equity for all and social determinants of health. DC is one of hundreds of jurisdictions worldwide that are participating.
