We increased our abandoned cart revenue by 275%.
Yes - 275%
Here’s how we did it:
Conversion tracking is your secret weapon for profitable growth
But ONLY if it’s done right
You can’t just change the way you track - you need to be using the right tools to ensure that you’re capturing ALL of the data that you need.
Let me give an example:
Let’s say you use Sendlane for your email marketing
Just launched a new campaign with a 20% discount offer, new customers are flooding to your site.
Views are going up, clicks are through the roof - but the vast majority of them leave without making (or finishing) their purchase
AND most of them are using IOS - that tracking that you hoped Sendlane would do for you to capture those lost opportunities?
Blocked. Sendlane can’t track the journey so your abandoned cart email was never sent.
Can kiss that potential customer goodbye.
Unless - you have the tools in place to keep that from happening
And ensure without a doubt that your users sessions are tracked, and your flows are chugging along exactly the way they’re supposed to.
Quick story - Post IOS update, we had found ourselves in this exact scenario
No surprise.
By a stroke of luck I stumbled across @getelevar while I was searching for a sustainable solution to this mess
And they promised that with their server-side tracking software our (not so) little conversion tracking problem would be solved…
Permanently.
It sounded WAY too good to be true
But it wasn’t. They followed through on their promise and then some.
Below is our A/B test for before vs after implementing their server-side tracking:
Flow 1: Added To Cart without server-side tracking
- 3,934 delivered
- 1,812 unique opens
- $10,061 in revenue
Flow 2: Added To Cart with server-side tracking
- 37,996 delivered
- 15,772 opens
- $37,802 in revenue
All it took was a simple, effective change in the way we track and the results were VERY clear - with our data reporting at 99% accuracy.
From one easy change - wild right?
Our flows became significantly more effective, conversions soared higher than before…
Win, after win, after win.
Moral of the story,
Don’t play around with your tracking.
I highly recommend that you invest in some solid tracking software that will deliver you the data you need without a doubt.
It’ll save you a lot more than you think in the long run.
