An old alchemist gave the following consolation to one of his disciples: “No matter how isolated you are and how lonely you feel, if you do your work truly and conscientiously, unknown friends will come and seek you." - Carl Jung

@EpicClipVault All restaurants should require prepay. I don't understand why they don't. We prepay for everything else we use in life.

I know I talk about Singapore related stuff most of the time but this piece of news was pretty cool to see Starbucks just closed ALL of its 2,160 stores in Korea When I saw the news, I thought it has to be clickbait - because I haven't seen it reported anywhere else But turns out it was true lmao Here's the story: > Starbucks Korea ran a “Tank Day” promotion on 18 May to sell new “Tank” tumblers > What they didn't know was that specific date (18 May) is the anniversary of the 1980 Gwangju pro‑democracy uprising, when a military crackdown unalived at least 165 civilians and likely many more > The campaign’s name and imagery evoked tanks used in the crackdown, which many people saw as deeply disrespectful to victims and their families > Starbucks Korea then saw NATION WIDE boycott and was forced to shutdown all their stores to send staff for "history" training > CEO of Starbucks Korea was also fired The learning here for me is that it really goes to show how important cultural sensitivity is - especially in an Asian context I feel fairly confident (or I hope) that Starbucks didn't do this on purpose and was probably just a stroke of bad luck tl;dr Learn your history

@nexta_tv This is just part of the culture. It's normal to stay with your family until you get married in Korea.

South Korea’s New Trend: “Full-Time Children” ❗️ More and more South Koreans aged 19–34 are moving back in with their parents. In exchange for housing and financial support, they cook, clean, care for their parents, and handle household chores full-time. The reason is simple: housing costs are sky-high, and jobs are increasingly hard to find. Around 54% of young adults still live with their parents, while the employment rate among people aged 15–29 has fallen to 43.8%. On TikTok, many are already posting skits about their new “full-time job” as grown-up children. Capitalism wins again. 😂

@reclaimkorea Funny how as soon as they unite there is a strong effort to pull them apart. What group of people has been known to do this?

Again with the Korean skin color BS you’d think these people would have better things to do than obsessively analyze the skin complexions of an entire foreign ethnicity I can’t help but notice how this always keeps reoccurring in waves. It’s also suspicious how we’re now getting this after all those displays of friendship between Koreans and Mexicans during the World Cup

I think it takes at least three generations for someone to be considered fully American. The first generation remains tied to their homeland in language and culture. The second still carries much of that influence through their immigrant parents. Only by the third generation do those ties loosen enough for genuine assimilation to occur. Assimilation cannot happen overnight. A nation is not a blank legal territory where anyone can instantly belong. America should remain distinctly American, and that requires time, generations, and the expectation that newcomers adopt its culture rather than remake it.

@StarsJester @NoiseCosmi53509 Maybe some do it out of self-hatred, but there are also a lot of Koreans that are naturally born with big eyes, higher nose bridges, lighter skin, etc. Perhaps those features are just universally considered attractive as this phenomenon has been seen in other cultures as well.

@ABC7 She knew there was no domestic dispute. She just used that as an excuse to the police so they'd actually show up. The police wouldn't have shown up if she told them there was a loud fan celebrating the Knicks.

A neighbor who called 911 during what they believed was a welfare emergency in Canoga Park is speaking out, saying they feel responsible after Los Angeles police shot and killed a dog at a nearby home during a New York Knicks' championship celebration. "I feel responsible for what happened," the neighbor said. "I'm so sorry. I never wanted anything bad to happen. I thought I was doing the right thing." abc7ne.ws/bnj0tg
