I’ll miss a lot of teams around here. Nobody more than the Hawkeye women’s team. Getting to cover back-to-back Final Fours will be one of the defining moments of my career. But more than that, they have the kindest and most caring coach (maybe overall human) that I’ve ever known. Jan is the absolute best that this world has to offer. And the young women they recruit are all such high-caliber people. I’ve loved all the relationships I’ve made with the people in that program that I’ve been fortunate to cover. I’m not a Hawkeye fan, and bleed neither black nor gold… but Jan and her crew have turned me into a Hawkeye WBB fan. That’s a team I’ll be rooting for, for life.

Lydia Ko found me on the range Tuesday at the Founders Cup and asked if we could reschedule our lunch interview for later that afternoon. The range was packed and players were waiting for a spot to hit. Then later, as her practice round dragged on, she asked if we could bump it to breakfast the next day – 7 a.m. It was there, over a plate of eggs, that we talked about retirement and how she plans to say goodbye (she doesn't want a retirement parade). We talked about how she's come to realize that she doesn't really love golf, not like many of her peers do, anyway. We talked about what drives her now. It was a 45-minute conversation, and I left feeling grateful. Ko was 16 the first time she told me that she planned to retire at age 30, two days after she made her first paycheck as a pro. @katywinters42 @Top100Rick Katy is correct. A multitude of examples where Rules impact outcome…both ways. Using your logic if a golf ball hits something OB & deflects back in bounds it would be a dead ball at OB contact point. The Rules may not fit everyone’s point of view. But they are really good!

@Top100Rick Using the rules to your advantage when is just as important as following them to begin with, provided one is not stretching said foot an inordinate distance to touch the sprinkler head. But even if that happens, karma will prevail.

I don’t know how to fix this golf rule and maybe there isn’t a way to fix it. But it just feels so wrong. It can literally be a full or half stroke reward for finding a sprinkler head. Something can be legal and be ethically wrong. That’s what this is.

Pretty insightful from Rolapp on CNBC this morning. Asked about his biggest downside surprise since taking the job and starts talking about the media rights market. Notes the U.S. market is at $30B and the NFL takes up $12, a number that likely will increase substantially in its new deal. Seems to be inferring the tour will be potentially getting less than its current $7B
