@Leah_M_Howie @patdubois That's exactly what my understanding of the issue is. I never had a passport, mailed in my app on Wednesday and now concerned that I won't even have my passport for my October trip. The 10 yr pp were also issued in 2013 so all of those are coming up to expiry

@anthonyfk IMO the only way this works is with proper inspections. Uploading pictures might not be doable with low-income folks, self reporting would have serious under reporting.

@greg_logan Not sure of the best solution there. Self-report with randomized audits? Upload a picture of the odometer whenever you renew registration?

There's an easy win here I'm surprised they're not taking. Instead of gas cars paying at the pump and electric cars paying a fixed fee through SGI, why not make all cars pay through SGI as a function of vehicle weight and kms driven that year? #skpoli
