@TheChadColby That's one heck of an operator to get a DMI toolbar through standing stalks.

@schiele_lance If they want to put them in your area, they will put them in your area. If you have to look at the neighbors, you mine as well look at yours with a little money in your pocket.

Have a meeting tonight with a group wanting to put up wind mills in my area. I think they’re an eye sore but then again 100k a year would be nice. Any opinions?

@blakeohare98 I don't understand your area. What kind of yeils are expected on that type of grond. $85 base rent seems like there isn't much risk on the renters end.

@silagechopper Custom work is nothing more than extra wear and tear on your equipment. You can rarely charge enough an actual profit considering a 3rd goes to Uncle Sam. Unless you've got free time or there is a chance work will lead to something better, it's a hard sell.

Tales from the Feedyard (Uncensored)
Quitting. A thread. Anything else in the world you quit a job and nobody cares. Life changes. People change. I’ve been somewhat scrutinized for quitting my silage cutting business. “There’s more to the story”. So…

@AaronBobeck My guess is a late arrival, and BTO Billy already has a 23 coming. Now, the dealership is trying to sell a new 22 at the new and improved 23 price.

@terikorth Anyone that gets mad about how the neighbors pick up dirt are usually just jealous they don't have the balls to call on land themselves. My landlords get offers well above what I'm paying regularly but yet I'm not worried about losing it. Be a better tenant and quit whining.

Thoughts on fair starting wage for a high schooler on farm work? He’s a licensed driver, and a great kid. What he lacks in experience he more than makes up for in attitude and ambition.

@DFarms001 @marciac95_ Most of the off brand chemistry requires a much higher rate than your name brand stuff. Also, by the time you add every ingredient to get the same formula you're handling 3x the amount of chem.

@DFarms001 @marciac95_ Generics are a waste of money. Nobody will stand behind them. If you want it don't right stick with an honest company like Nutrien or Helena. Peice of mind is definitely worth the $3 an acre you might save.

@marciac95_ Anyone who says their prices are cheap and nobody can beat them doesn’t shop around hard enough. They are not competitive at all. Their seed is also trash. Their corn never made it out of allot of plots around here. I think their prices wow people who never knew generics existed.

@ranchersdottir Show me a Christian who is living a miserable life. I don't feel like I'm stuck in a rigid lifestyle. Heck we only have 10 rules to follow.

@TJHarrison22 You start by planting beans in the mud and finish by combining corn?

I have another strip till related question. What are you guys doing with your planters. I'm sure I will need something better than my old screw adjust rock guards. Will I need no till coulters, floating row cleaners, or anything to make a decent seed bed.

I'm getting a lot of input on this stripping idea, and I'm wondering what approach I should take. Currently running ripper and fall gas on most acres. AA is cheaper most years, so I hate to give up on it. Do I throw all my inputs in one strip or split it up.

@growncorn Been using soil warrior xs units since 2016. Did about 5 years worth of research and networking before getting into strip-till. We need disk only machines as we have stones. Shanks work much better in heavier soils. Corn on corn needs to be a priority when picking a unit.

@Noggle_Farms With the fendt I'd have to go 2 track. Haven't been around a 2 track before, but I love my 939. As far as the quad tacks, I always kind of saw that as a waste of money. Big metrics seem to do the job for a fraction of the cost.

@growncorn Are you talking 4 tracks or two? If 4 are you thinking wide track or row tracks?

I'm thinking about upgrading my old stiger to a new stiger. Are tracks really worth all the fuss or should I stick to my trusty tires. I really like my 939 but I've never had a tracked anything. To be honest, there aren't very many in the neighborhood either.

@Therealkg12 That sure doesn't look like $25,000 worth of damage. Unless of course, the land lord is collecting the payment on both turbines. In that case, sorry bout the bad luck.

I have another question before jumping head first into stripping. What is everyone using to keep product to your rig. It looks like I can spend almost as much on the tender as the bar itself.

Has anyone tried one of these out yet. I'm thinking about stripping and don't know who to try out.
