Anyone going to watch this Big Boy next month chug its way through Iowa? I will be on the mainline coming through Carrol, Ames and Cedar Rapids on the 5th and 6th. Its making a few stops along the way as well.

@gavin_spoor Well the 7250 budget 40-50k for every 1000-1500 separator hours. The Gleaner you can have that damn rotor on the ground in 15 min. I’d recommend a Deere but I’m not going to because I’ll get flamed.

For guys running later model (3-6 year old) class 7 combines, what do you budget for repairs/general maintenance yearly? JD S770, CIH 7250, Gleaner S97 type units 2,600 acres corn/beans/winter wheat

There’s a story behind every ol Tractor. Seems like just yesterday we got this beast of a JD 5020 Cummins onto our farm in Nebraska. Anybody running Yetter Magnums and/or Yetter strip fresheners? Could run Magnums in the fall banding P-K. low disturbance. 4-6” deep. Would still broadcast spread my odd shaped and small fields. Come back with fresheners in the spring 2” deep to apply 32% and ATS ahead of planter. Pros - 100% banded fertility, warm seed bed, keeps liquid off planter Cons - extra field passes, upfront equipment cost. Logistics/manpower
