Sometimes I look at him curled up in the quiet of the house and I can’t help but wonder what he remembers. In just 7 short years, my sweet boy has had 5 different owners. Five different homes. Five different lives. I’ve had him since March, and every single day I’m grateful he found his way to me, but sometimes my heart aches thinking about everything he’s been through before that. He was declawed by his first owner. Abandoned outside. Passed along and surrendered more than once. A life of constant change, confusion, and loss. And yet… here he is. Gentle. Loving. Trusting me with a heart that has every reason not to. I wonder if he remembers the others. If certain sounds, smells, or moments bring back pieces of his past. If somewhere deep inside, he remembers being left behind and wonders if it will happen again. Cats don’t tell us their stories with words, but sometimes they speak with their eyes, their clinginess, the way they follow you from room to room just to be sure you’re still there. He’s my worl
