Van started their rebuild in Dec 2025 and already has a better young piece in Zeev.

The difference is that the Canucks were already really bad pretty much every year they had Hughes. They only made the playoffs twice when they had him, whereas the Flames have had farther to fall. Now, we're here, and Calgary has a significantly better pool of future assets.

So, building high speed rail is "the west subsidizing" the east.... But, building a pipe line isn't the opposite?
Also, this isn't remotely how taxation works. We don't pay "per person" for projects.

Ottawa wants to spend $90 Billion on high-speed rail between Toronto and Quebec City. That's $4000 out of the pocket of every Canadian taxpayer to fund something that 99% will never use. As usual, Western Canadians will be paying to subsidize Ontario and Quebec. Insanity.

I am very tired of people continuously telling us we can’t have nice things.
Give us a plan to build Alto for half the price (or offer alternatives for non-driving infrastructure!), not cancel it altogether.
Leaders must lead with aspiration, not trepidation, for the future.

It's a disgrace that a modern G7 country doesn't have high speed rail. And by not building high-speed rail between its major cities isn't being "fiscally responsible," it’s falling behind once again. This is the moment for big, nation-building infrastructure, not timid politics. Thinking small is exactly how Canada got stuck.

Pierre Poilievre is turning his back on Canadians from Quebec City to Toronto and the communities in between. Investing in High-Speed Rail means building a more connected, competitive Canada, and proves Canada can get big things done.
The Conservatives, as usual, think small. Turning away from nation-building investments is the wrong choice, and one Canadians reject at a time when we need to build and grow.
