@ejames500 People totally pissed off with the last 14 years especially the actions of the non elected PMs - watching public services rumble under non investment, public servants who worked through austerity and pay freezes

NEW via @SchoolsWeek - The boss of one of the country’s biggest academy trusts has suggested the 'archaic' directed time cap for teachers should be reviewed, saying 'if we want to be seen as a profession we can’t continue to rigidly count hours' schoolsweek.co.uk/trust-boss-tim…

@lyncey_gilbe When working people are using food banks to balance the budget and children aren’t going to school with a nutritious start - I think it’s the least society can do

Why can’t parents feed their kids breakfast! Why have they no pride in being parents! Why do they want free dinners plus free breakfast? They’ll be wanting free tea soon and free holidays! Family allowance is around £90 a month per child! If they aren’t using it, stop it 🤷🏻‍♀️

A colleague showed me teacher TikTok today and OH MY GOD 🤯🤯 Literally millions of likes for teachers videoing themselves *in lessons* Millions of likes for classroom practice that are actively bad for student learning 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

@AaronTeamEC I work in an all through school R to year 11 As a staff body we all learn from each other. EYFS is the foundation stone for so many skills - the staff are essential to support us all

Let’s think about the actual causes of recruitment and retention in the early years. We also need to think about why so many leave, we can’t retain staff. Other than pay, what other causes are stopping people from being early years professionals atm?

My wife Anna is currently trying to extend her Turkish visa because the U.K. government will not allow her to live with me in the U.K. (see below) I cannot live in Anna’s home country Russia, The U.K. government states no travel for British citizens. So what are we to do??? Our situation… A mess created by a conservative government and ignored by Labour, We wanted to do the right thing, we listened to the home office, took their advice… I’m a British citizen, my wife is not. In 2018 the home office told us we hadn’t enough history and I hadn’t been self employed for long enough to get a fiancé visa, So we listened and we waited… lockdown happened… We eventually got married… We have been together 8 years, 8 years of relationship history 8 years of self employed accounts The government changed the rules for a U.K. spouse visa this year. (Just before our wedding day) I visit Anna several times each year, when I’m not working I’m not earning so I’m now below the new financial requirement. I own my house outright. I have paid tax for 30+years. Never claimed benefits. Anna is a freelance artist, illustrator, Speaks three languages. Still the government say no! They say we may be a risk to the U.K. welfare system, Yet neither of us would be entitled to benefits so what is the risk? To go down the human rights route would mean another 10 years of this hanging over our heads. The fees this would involve are eye watering. The visa alone has increased massively. If refused we loose that money. No one in government will acknowledge any of the letters I have sent by post and email. Including Keir, that never replied he just passed my letter on to the home office. As did Rishi my mp. Now put this in to context or not, a Schengen Visa allowing you access to 26 countries £75 A U.K. spouse visa allowing a British citizen to live with there wife or husband in the U.K. £1846 + Immigration Healthcare Surcharge £1,035 for each year and biometric fee £19.20. Also language test £150 We are collateral damage, That hurts.

Suddenly we're in the grip of a 1970s-style brain drain. And Starmer and Reeves are so economically illiterate they don't understand why the exodus of wealth creators is a disaster for Britain dailymail.co.uk/debate/article…

@fromthesandpit @AaronTeamEC Teachers in science and maths particularly are leaving in droves and now can’t be recruited into training - bigger issues I think

@AaronTeamEC Definite lack of respect for the profession. We need parity with teachers so that we are seen as educators. We need to stop using the term child care as it perpetuates the idea of baby sitters. We need you ensure there is cover when staff are off sick to avoid burn out.

So am I right in saying that if I’ve never worked I would receive a state pension, then in turn receive pension credit, then in turn get fuel allowance. That means then if you’ve worked all your life & paid into your pension then you won’t get fuel allowance How’s that fair 🤔

@sammycat25 @TacoTuesdah @HazelAppleyard_ Again who is determining what is junk ? They need to be nutritionally qualified or based in allergies of staff/students - this could be balanced in the context if their daily intake

What would you do if your kids school returned their lunch with this note? I’d be fuming! Try telling me what I can and can’t feed my own kid. Schools overstep so often. You can’t eat jam but you can change your gender? F off 😂

@sammycat25 @TacoTuesdah @HazelAppleyard_ Are you saying it isn’t healthy? That’s an assumption - who tested the food to make that assumption and who has the authority to say what the child should eat in their packed lunch provided by their parent / carers I understand policies based on allergies of other students/staff
