he’s consistently found ways to help his team succeed while OKC is the second most injured team

Shai is the lead scorer on a 65-win team, it's true! But the biggest reason OKC wins is their all-time defense, which Shai only contributes to on a B-level. He's MVP because the wins matter and he's the best on-ball scoring guard since Jordan! So much to feel great about!
But there are levels to this.
