@FOSSPenguin @t3dotgg must admit, I did start with Ubuntu. wouldn't have found Linux Mint otherwise. but Linux Mint isn't hard to use, and a lot of things that apply to Ubuntu also apply to Mint

@t3dotgg I'm a hardcore Linux guy, and I think everyone should start with Ubuntu. It's a shit distro now for people with Linux knowledge, but has the most community support for people coming from outside. Learning Linux from starting with Ubuntu will make you stay. Always start there.

@t3dotgg I love how Ubuntu is censored like it's considered an offensive word to Linux neckbeards, lmao.

@a67deff8dea4 @t3dotgg highly recommend checking out Flatpaks, they do the same thing but much more efficiently and with much better community support

@a67deff8dea4 @t3dotgg if you're new, use Linux Mint! the highlight is that it's Ubuntu without the Snap bloatware. it also feels much faster in my experience

@Pablomf6 Okay, but online play can always be reimplemented, and there will always be devs to work on new emus. What would they be scared away by?

@HTV04Rules Some functionally is lost, like online play, the talented devs that are familiar are gone, and new potential devs are scared away.

Ryujinx, the remaining Nintendo Switch emulator, has ceased development. At the time of writing, there are no active ways to help preserve Nintendo Switch videogames, after all consoles cease working. Nintendo, STOP DESTROYING VIDEOGAMES!

[Ryujinx] Ryujinx, a Nintendo Switch emulator, has ceased development. The lead developer was pressured by Nintendo of America into shutting down the project. All downloads and the GitHub repositories have been removed.

@MikageEmu Hot take, but I prefer to install everything from the Microsoft Store. This way it's easy to update everything, app files also cleanly uninstall without leftovers. Coming from Linux, I use a package manager for all my apps. In Windows, the MS Store is the closest thing to that.

How do people install apps on Windows these days? Are installers still a thing? Or do you just use portable zips? Does anyone use the Microsoft Store?
