@munawwarfiroz They’re not comparable. Prettier enforces a standard. CI enforces correctness. Git hooks enforce a workflow. What's this obsession with wasted time? It’s my own time being wasted, no-one else's. If I find it persistently annoying then I’ll setup my own hooks as they suit me.

@imranolas Hah that argument is odd. As dev teams use stuff like prettier! Which forces *one way on the entire team*. Also git hook *is* a dev tool. If you forgot to run type checks and build fails on CI, you wasted time! As you could have found that quicker locally.

we run type checking on a pre-push hook waste of time to push and then later realize you have a simple type error - sometimes you don’t even notice that CI failed until you’re already doing something else

@thdxr @mattpocockuk @munawwarfiroz Git hooks are a developer convenience. They run on the devs local machine and can be circumvented so they can’t be considered as anything more than a dev tool. Forcing everyone on the project to use them is a bit like forcing everyone to use the same editor.

And to top it off I bumped in to the glorious @MikeMJHarris for the first time in nearly 10 years. We even unexpectedly dressed the same to commemorate the occasion.

Thank you @vercel and @jaredpalmer for the talks and hospitality at AI night this evening. It was good to catch up with familiar faces again and to see a vibrant engineering community in action. I'm excited to see how this landscape looks in the coming years.

@AmyCrimmens Good question! Predominantly full stack JavaScript/Typescript (Node, GraphQL, React) and, serverless cloud. A little Go and Python, and more recently data tools like dbt, Bigquery, and Elasticsearch. I'm particularly handy at solving troublesome performance and stability issues.

@EalingCouncil it's the 3rd week in a row that the recycling collection was missed and instead was collected as general waste the following week. I'm pretty furious that recycling is heading to landfill. What's going on?
