My brother, Prof. Baryamureeba, with due respect, I kindly encourage you to revisit my submission in full so that our discussion is guided by the complete context of the proposal. Some of the concerns you raised, especially around electricity and sustainability, can be addressed through solar-powered laptops, which current technology is capable of supporting. While concerns about theft are understandable, I do not believe they should prevent the country from planning for transformative solutions that can widen access to meaningful education and transformative technology. Given your long-standing role as a technology practitioner (at least that’s the rest I accord you), I had hoped we could advance this conversation in a more informed, constructive, and forward-looking manner. I am therefore sharing the link to my letter once again and respectfully invite you to read it fully, after which I would greatly value your well-informed and supportive submission. See link to my letter below:👇🏾 newvision.co.ug/category/scien…

Outdated ... We just need good teachers and laboratories in all schools. Ugandans have problems charging phones and so how will they charge laptops or keep them safely in rural areas? More than 50% would be stolen in the first year. Do research and propose practical solutions.

40% Increment on PAYE aside, Gov't is to increase taxes on fuel by 200/= Ugx. Currently, Gov't collects 1550/= from each litre of petrol and 1230/= Ugx from each litre of diesel. With the new 200/= increase, Gov't will get 1750/= on each litre of petrol & 1430/= on diesel.

I'm recording this from inside the house, but it feels like I'm right at the crusade itself. @KCCAUG @nemaug @PoliceUg This crusade is organized by Kingdom TV and hosted by David Kiganda. They have been shouting nonstop since Sunday and they expect us to tolerate the noise

One year down the road, we are counting, and we inherited very deteriorated networks and areas that had been in blackout for months. But one the less, we have normalized. The first semester of our journey had a lot of lows on the side of distribution, partially because of the rains-@nankizaaki Spokesperson @UEDCLTD #MorningAtNTV

When we took over(from UMEME), the network had not been invested in for about three years, and there was a real thirst for investment. In just one year, we have pushed out close to about UGX 433 billion in procurements- @nankizaaki , spokesperson @UEDCLTD #MorningAtNTV

I am unable to record tutorials because a church has organized a crusade in Makindye, and they are ensuring that even people in their homes can listen in and hear their message. This is completely unacceptable. It’s like I attended their crusade 😡😡😡😡😡 @nemaug @PoliceUg

@assempebwa the issue is always the same you cry daily about financial constraints for each road in this country, then for Northern bypass, you seem to have infinite money. are we sure money is not needed for other very bad roads in the country?

It’s a preventative approach, Fredrick. Remember this is the old phase of the Northern Bypass that was completed about 15 years ago. If deterioration is spotted now, with resources to manage it before deeper potholes emerge, why not? So a stitch in time, saves nine! @MoWT_Uganda
Fredrick Ahimbisibwe@FredrickAhimbi1

@assempebwa I drive on this road daily. but honestly, I do not see the need for these repairs that are causing a lot of traffic delays. However, we leave it to the engineers, and you Allan.

Dr. Muganga's One Laptop Per Child proposal for Uganda is bold and good .The timing is suspicious as at the beginning of every Presidential term suspicious proposals start flying all over the place .Is it doable ? Kenya deployed 1.2M tablets in 2016. No trained teachers. No maintenance systems. Procurement scandals followed. Devices gathered dust. Before someone pushes the Rwandese story down our throats ; #Rwanda built infrastructure first, trained teachers before distributing hardware, aligned content to curriculum. The approach, character and style in Rwanda is possibly different and hard to replicate else where based on the size and homogeneous population on top institutional governance uniqueness . What do we need ? ✅ Independent feasibility study & realistic costing ✅ Pilot before national scale-up The $1.2B figure cited likely understates true costs by leaps and bounds .The cost could even be over 100% .This in the current circumstances looks un affordable regardless of the various theoretical financing models cited. This thus requires a comprehensive ,patient and consistent thought process . President @KagutaMuseveni has to be advised that the vision is right but details are everything. #Uganda #12thParliament #OneLaptopPerChild #EdTech #Rukiga

Two consenting adults should be free to act without interference. The issue arises only with non-consenting or vulnerable parties, specifically poor Ugandan boys or children—not adult men. ➡️Heterosexual attraction follows clear physiological maturity markers. As a heterosexual man, attraction targets young women and above, not young girls. Puberty brings distinct changes—breasts, hips, thighs, and vaginal development—that signal readiness for adult heterosexual relations. ➡️Homosexual male attraction lacks equivalent maturity barriers. In contrast, physiological changes from boy to man are minimal: muscles and pubic hair develop, but the anus remains structurally similar. A homosexual man could thus find a young boy as physically appealing as an adult male, with little visual or tactile distinction. ➡️Vulnerability enables exploitation. Poor young boys' consent is easily bought (e.g., for ~$100 USD), amplifying the risk of predation in contexts like Uganda. Homosexuality poses a unique danger to boys and children because it bypasses natural physiological "guards" against pedophilia that exist in heterosexuality, enabling cheap exploitation of the vulnerable.

This is not terribly true. The @WSJ is choosing to re-enforce the narrative that LGBTQIA people are so unsafe in Uganda, they face death daily. In the same report, they essentially acknowledge that there’s gay bars in Uganda and @PoliceUg knows about them. That they haven’t shut them down is telling. Also, a slight correction for you Wall Street Journal Editor; the busiest gay bar is on Thursdays and people come and go without much incident. If you’d like, I can take you. I’ll buy the drinks. Bottomline: there’s more people who wanna kill homosexuals in your own country, the US than there are in Uganda. Ditto Middle Eastern babies. Don’t be fooled by the politicians’ noise, Uganda is a largely “live and let live” society on this issue and has been that way for thousands of years. We are too busy trying to find a few shillings -for survival- to be bothered by two consenting adults banging. I mean, even our leading Pentecostal Pastor is rumored to enjoy some of that action. 🤷🏾‍♂️
