@itsskitime

I wasn’t born in the US, I came here by choice to be a part of this great land, I didn’t come here to change it, if you did then it’s time you left.

🗣️ Samir Nasri on Ramadan: "Why should coaches need to know if players are observing Ramadan? In my day, no one asked me, 'Are you fasting for Ramadan or not?' We're in a secular country; normally, religion should stay in the private sphere. Does the coach go to Catholics and ask if they're observing Lent? Why wasn't this question about Ramadan an issue 20 years ago? This question shouldn't even exist. You know it's Ramadan season, you know more or less which players on your team are Muslim. You watch the matches; if a player is underperforming, you sub him out, that's it. Why go and ask him if he's fasting for Ramadan? Because he's fasting, are you going to look at him differently? It shouldn't be a thing to ask your players not to fast. Karim Benzema, he's at his best when he's under Ramadan. Do we talk about that too? Everyone has their own experience. Some players are carried by their faith too, and that, you can't know. Some eat McDonald's and score hat-tricks; there's no logic to it."

@psychmystic That's not how sovereignty works. Israel wants and fuels perpetual wars for this exact reason - to keep stealing lands. Tell me why you're stealing the West Bank every day?

The IDF has now destroyed 7 bridges over the Litani river. Blatant war crimes to seize a massive chunk of Lebanon. And the world is talking about empty ambulances in high questionable circumstances... When will they be stopped - they're destroying the world.

Belgium’s publicly funded youth radio station, Studio Brussel (VRT), featured a sketch in which its breakfast presenters smashed various items on air, including a statue of Our Lady and Jesus. I asked if they were concerned it would cause offence, and if they would do the same to a symbol of Islam or Judaism.

@Neccccy @AdoreAppys Palm oil. Cadbury used to suggest quality. The goodwill for that company was massive. You felt you were buying a glass and a half of milk in every half pound of chocolate. Not anymore. Now it's perceived as cheapo-shite that's poor quality.

@allenanalysis Would someone be protected under the speech & debate clause if they punched Ted in the nose on the house floor? It seems that members of Congress have great latitude with the law when they are in there.

Between Legal cost and demolition it is going to be a lot of money for what - To make a point ! Demolishing an illegally built house in rural Meath is estimated to cost taxpayers up to €200,000, according to an industry source. In recent days, demolition crews ripped through the five-bedroom property in Bohermeen after a 20-year legal battle between Meath county council and the house’s owners, Chris and Rose Murray. The council took possession of the detached house last week after the married couple’s failed retention bids and appeals. However, the decision to level the property instead of retaining it for an alternative use has been widely criticised. Concerns have also been raised about the expense of the operation, including the provision of on-site security. “A demolition company could maybe make up to €200,000 on this job,” said a source at one demolition company that was not involved in the project. However, another insider suggested that the bill would be “at least €60,000 to €70,000 — and you’d have to add security costs on top of that”. The sprawling property, which included five bedrooms, two living rooms, a playroom, an office and several bathrooms, was valued at more than €1 million. The source added that he could not understand why the council would not take over the house for social uses. “Meath council could have left the house standing and fined this couple €300,000 instead, which could go back into the coffer,” he said. “All they’re left with now is a grass field.” The demolition of a home has also drawn criticism for taking place during a housing crisis. Padraig Fitzsimons, a Navan-based councillor, said families in Meath could expect to wait up to eight years for a social home in some cases. “There are about 3,000 people on the social housing list in Meath, with waiting times largely determined by the type of home best suited for them,” he said. “People with children looking for a three-bed house can sometimes wait seven or eight years, while a single person would get a smaller home considerably faster.” The Meath local authority would not give an estimate on the cost of the operation. However, it stated: “Meath county council is currently acting on foot of High Court orders in relation to the property at Faughan Hill, Bohermeen. The court has directed that the council, with the assistance of An Garda Siochana, take possession of the property and proceed with demolition in accordance with existing court orders. The council acknowledges the co-operation of those involved in this process.” There have been several legal challenges over the past two decades between the property’s owners and Meath county council, heard before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. An order remains in place directing that the couple be brought before the High Court for breaching a previous undertaking to vacate the property. Chris and Rose Murray are due before the court on Monday to respond to contempt of court proceedings. Mrs Murray said any additional statements from them would be made through their legal team.

@StephenMather6 It might not have started out as a Genocide but the English Landlords sure used it to their advantage to rid the land of the Irish. Letting people starve to death while you export food might not be Genocide to you but to others it is. Calling it incompetence is ignorance

The Great Famine wasn’t a Genocide And you won’t find a serious historian who says that it was And it’s an urban legend that the Royal Navy exported food off the island People constantly mistake incompetence & disinterest for intent

An Gorta Mór - The Great Hunger To call this period in Irish history a famine dishonours the pain and untold suffering our ancestors endured. British warships took the food of our land for profit while our people starved. It was genocide.
