@levelsio The temperature increase would mimic the natural temperature increases that happen as your body wakes up naturally. That's my theory anyway.

@levelsio I strongly suspect that if you schedule your temperature increase to match when you want to wake up it will improve sleep inertia and subjective sleep evaluation. I don't have a smart thermostat so I haven't really tested.

🌡️ When we sleep our AC is set to 17°C with fan on 4/5 and pointed downwards I have to manually move the vents downward cause Mitsubishi Electric AC won't do downward to avoid dripping water, if I don't move them the lowest setting still is 45° angle and blasts cold air at us which is annoying for your nose and makes you sneezy Me and gf have thick blankets which I believe is kinda cultural, I'm Dutch so much of the winter it's cold and you need thick blankets, she's South Brazilian which is similar climate So no it's not cold for us, not until we leave the bed in the morning but then we shut the AC off Usually when I post we sleep so cold, people from hot countries say it's way too cold and say they sleep perfectly at like 27°C or 81°F, that's nice and all but also those countries have 1) low productivity, 2) lower IQ, 3) lower education levels, which is all related to sleep quality, which in turn affects cognitive ability Singapore is a great example of that, without AC it's 30°C / 86°F, but when they installed AC decades ago it became rich which its founding father Lee Kuan Yew attributes to AC My conviction is most of the world sleeps way too hot and it's making everyone dumb

Am I spamming this to confirm it can go viral and moving on if it doesn't happen in say 1-2 weeks? Still experimenting with different formats ofc.

@jackfriks hey jack! Been following your growth guide lately, and it's been super interesting. I'm curious what you think about a format that gets 1.1k, 1.2k views consistently (youtube shorts).

@levelsio my ping from USA is a nightmare, I doubt there's really any way to fix this, but if anybody has any ideas I'd be open to hearing. Thanks for the reminder of how fun Quake is. Also insane that Slasher is in.

@levelsio not disparaging claude code btw, I think it's fantastic. I just think pi-mono is infinitely more customizable and less lock-in. Can pick whatever model is best at the time.

@levelsio imo use pi-mono instead w/ anthropic models. It's what openclaw was built on. This way you don't have to wait for anthropic to ship features, you can ship them yourself!

@levelsio I will say being broke early on in my dev career was probably one of the most helpful things. Couldn't afford to pay for heroku, but I could afford 5 bucks a month on linode and 40 hours of bashing my face against a terminal.

Yes it does, a basic but well optimized VPS can handle 10,000 requests per second That's more than most need Also I agree with this, it's basic engineering knowledge to be able to operate your own server, even if you go back to PaaS after I'm noticing it's becoming a blind spot with modern web devs who apparently don't even know what an IP address is anymore

I figured out how to uninstall the DNS on Hetzner so I could use the actual port for my LLM-over-DNS So now you can also type it without the -p 9000 port stuff, just this: dig @llm.pieter.com "what is the meaning of life?" TXT +short Which makes it work on airplane WiFi on any WiFi that allows DNS but doesn't let you use the internet :D inspired by @Arxiv_Daily

Inspired by a tweet from @levelsio and the tool by @Arxiv_Daily, I whipped up a quick bash script that lets you chat with them, or any other LLM over DNS servers, now in a more user-friendly way.

All freelancers and agencies understand the yin/yang of having to do sales as well as work. No sales → no work. And yet, people will work on a software product for years without thinking they need to spend half their time on sales.

Probably the best Boiler Room mix in 10 years right here, which is confirmed by the view count (see Most Popular tab), everything but this mix and the recent Chase & Status one is from ~10 years ago youtube.com/watch?v=T1tcUf… Boiler Room was rapidly going to shit but feels it's now finally recovering and going back to its roots Which is 100% related to the worldwide cultural zeitgeist healing now I think Everything in society is connected and you can hear it in music too which is crazy

Very cool @mntruell cofounder of Cursor (he introduces himself as just a dev 😂) saw the flight sim He asked for feedback and he gave some tips: The context window is an issue but normally people don't use Cursor with files that big, but now they do wanna fix it But yes short files work better Splitting up my flight sim into different files didn't work last time but I didn't try Agent mode yet so I'll try that tonight I feel like AI apps should always have sane defaults and use the right modes for your question/prompt while letting you override that if you want Because now there's Chat, Composer, Agent etc. and it takes me some time to understand the differences as the forever noob I am Anyway amazing responsiveness from the Cursor founders, reminds me of Stripe a lot, he even looks a bit like @patrickc 😀 inb4 they only dm you cause you're big on X, I have no idea but they seem very nice!!

Yesterday was GREAT But today I will be honest it's getting harder The game is now 3000 lines long in a file called fly.html and Cursor starts getting into issues To make one change, it has to go over the entire file and applying a change can take 15 seconds Then over half the time it breaks the game, with no errors (so it does code properly), or it removes entire parts (like the plane itself, or the controls etc) I think what I'm reaching is the limit of the LLM context window, so it does the change I want but then it forgets other parts of the code due to context limit Cursor I think works by "diffing" the source and the answer of the AI/LLM, so it then starts removing code that you actually need that it'd forgot One solution is to split it up into multiple files, which I tried, so I asked it to do that but then it creates lots of files like [game.js] function updatePlayer(){ // insert your updatePlayer code here } But of course Cursor SHOULD add the code there, so then I had to go over every file to ask it to put back the code there, but in the end it just gave me a broken game that didn't work anymore I love to give everyone an HONEST idea of what's possible with AI coding now, and obviously it'll keep getting better, so I think you can definitely generate entire apps and games easily, but you start hitting roadblocks after awhile I do know Cursor team and other people are working daily to fix those things though A context limit, IF that is the real problem, is a relatively easy thing to fix though Any way my tip is: make sure Cursor immediately starts coding the app in multiple files, so it just works from the start! I'll keep hacking and trying to make this work though, I got pretty far yesterday which was very fun and cool

Managed to get ahead on this a bit today: Tried to steer the camera left by outpainting with a mask a few times Of course you end up extending the AI photo horizontally, instead of actually TURNING left To turn left, I'd need to distort the masked picture so it'd look like you'd see if you'd turn left, no idea how but should be possible? Maybe some spheric distortion? As long as that is done properly, the AI should be able to fill the rest of the image in properly and we'd be able to actually rotate the camera left/right in an AI scene!
@levelsio tweet media@levelsio tweet media@levelsio tweet media
@levelsio@levelsio

So it's a technical test to prove Photo AI can achieve the same abilities as a real photographer with free movement within an AI photo shoot For that you need to be able to zoom out and zoom in essentially forever Next is moving left, right, up and down through a space Total free movement to simulate a photographer is the goal!

Don't work too hard building a startup. Jobs, Gates, Zuckerberg all had hobbies and weren't tethered to their computers. Levels doesn’t spend 11 hours/day coding and tweeting. Just relax and let the succeed come to you.
