how to actually do marketing for vaults with zero TVL
first thing you lack is credibility. catch-22 bc nobody deposits into a vault w zero TVL
treat it like milestones. first $100 from a stranger is brutal. then $10k gets easier. then $100k. then $1M. after that you can run influencer campaigns
but at the start? you need to run cold DMs and get on sales calls
i worked w a vault that refused to do sales. they wanted hype campaigns bc that's what they saw everyone else doing
problem: they're an interest rate product
hype campaigns work for speculative plays bc you're selling early access and fomo. but w interest earning, what you see is what you get. the vault shows 8% APY and that's what you earn. zero speculation
nobody picks up pennies in front of a train. nobody risks $10k to earn $900/year unless they trust you won't rug
so even if it feels like B2C, you need sales calls. the only people willing to take that risk are the ones who actually talk to you first
to boost calls:
• cold DM campaigns
• content on your site showing proof
• reply to everything
• be a real person, not a bot
• video content on your profile helps a ton
• follow-ups

sure you can optimize your website to be searchable, in fact many CMS already do this for free.
the “magic number of words” is a myth - show me a domain with 99 authority and I will show you what’s ranking even without “the right number of words”
to even appear on LLMs, you will still need authority
seo is a game for really advanced marketers and no LLM can replace that.
the content production? sure.
but getting ranked without being penalized is a totally different game

A writer, producer & marketer who is culturally attune and exceptional at creating content
They follow the founder around and turn repackage thoughts into a barrage of posts, videos, newsletters, and memes
The most important factor though, is SPEED
Most social media marketers today (1) Do not know how to capture attention and (2) Take days for a turnaround
The future of marketing will require instant turnarounds to respond to trends/news cycles. They should be on 24/7.
I've only met a few of these ppl - they are a unicorn.

Hot take: There isn’t lack of VC money in crypto. In fact I’d argue there’s still oversupply of capital. What’s lacking is courage. Courage to build something that defines a new unproven category. Right now I’m mostly seeing copycats chasing what’s already working. But no one cares about the 69th prediction market, 69th yield vault, 69th stablecoin neobank, etc. Polymarket, Morpho, Redotpay, etc. won because they were early to new categories before they became obvious.

i recently went to shanghai with my girlfriend for a few days
it was one of the best experiences i've had in the past year
i spend most of my time thinking about business, growth tactics, how to make more money so i can be free. but that trip reminded me that none of that stuff matters if you don't have people to share it with
love is weird. you can't optimize for it, you can't growth hack it, you can't force it to happen on your timeline
but it's genuinely one of the core experiences that make being human worth it
i'm not saying drop everything and chase relationships. i'm saying don't forget to let it happen when it does

working behind the scenes in crypto for a while now and one thing is clear: crypto has matured
for better or for worse. i think it's better
i recently came into contact w a company doing international shipping using crypto. that's insane when you think about it - huge industry, especially in singapore
most of their systems are probably legacy stuff. having a blockchain where you can verify shipping, track everything, full transparency without middlemen taking cuts or slowing things down
that's the stuff that actually changes industries
if you're still trying to work in this industry, just know we are moving away from the fun speculative stuff. especially in this bear market
when the bull comes back, we'll probably have an altcoin season (looking forward).
but sadly it won't last
not for one second as a founder should you be building for those markets, because when the bear comes it comes for all of them
the only core markets that stay are the ones solving real problems. the ones people actually need when there's no hype, no exit liquidity, no one shilling your bags
the shipping company isn't waiting for btc to hit 100k to have product market fit. they have it now because logistics companies need what they're building regardless of market conditions
that's what sustainable looks like
crypto still has the power to change many industries. but not through speculation, through actual utility that compounds over time
if your protocol only works when number goes up, well you are kinda fucked
