BA Concorde did the checkerboard multiple times. Pilots called it thrilling; passengers got the best views of Hong Kong ever.

Last night the Tower of London was illuminated to mark the 80th Anniversary of VJ Day. Victory over Japan Day marks the day Japan surrendered on 15 August 1945 which ended the Second World War. #TowerPoppies

@DrHelenFry My great uncle-Roy Excell killed in a small Italian village, Pizzoferrato near Cassino. He & others defended the hilltop village, eventually being cornered in a small church which still bears the bullet holes. He is remembered in the village town hall where his picture hangs.

Today is Afghanistan Day, where we remember those killed and the many injured in that campaign. Both @FirstFusiliers and 2 FUSILIERS did several tours on Op HERRICK, alongside other fine Regiments and Corps.

@MichaelLCrick Care workers are amazing people. My father’s received care since March. It’s been transformative for both him & my mother who had been trying incredibly hard to care for him. They deserve so much more than they receive, both in pay & respect . I’m grateful every day for carers.

This was such a crass,
insensitive remark by Kemi Badenoch. It shows no sympathy or appreciation for care home staff who often get paid just £12 an hour. They work in very stressful conditions, with heavy lifting, doing tasks many residents' families don't want.
