I signed a lot of professional players, and some MLB players. I gave them all the same advice. Do not put a target on your back. Look and act like a professional. Gravitate towards the veterans. Do more than expected. Play the game like you love it and respect it. Stay off of social media. When you become a perennial all star you can do it your way.

Very few, and I mean very few kids belong in D1 baseball as freshmen. Even less belong in P5 baseball. With that being said. Every time I see a kid post a commitment to a junior college, D2, D3 or NAIA school, I think, that kid got good advice. The kids that do belong in D1, and most especially P5 schools out of high school are the kids that are legitimately deciding between a pro contract and school. The percentage of kids that get meaningful playing time as freshmen at D1, and most especially P5 schools advertises it's not a great decision for most.

@nextlevelbb It seems that with the reduced draft rounds and reduced minor leagues, that D1 is where these Juco, D2, D3, & NAIA players move to through the portal. And they end up getting drafted from there. I don’t have any data but that is my guess.

Discussion Why has the number of Juco, D2, D3 and NAIA kids drafted been reduced? Are those kids now less talented? Is the competition level sub par? or Do those schools simply not provide the data, analytics and track man reports, that scouts that never played or coached need to evaluate players for them?
