@TTrimoreau If you use any of those, especially godaddy, I would not trust your ability to build anything at all. If your judgement on where to buy a domain name is that poor, I can only imagine how awful your product is.

Went to Bellagio, wired money ahead of time. Went to cage to get it. They asked me to sign a contract with MGM that allows them to do background and credit check stuff (even in my case, just wanting to wire in advance and pick it up.) The wouldn’t budge on the contract so having them reverse the wire. Is this the same at every Vegas casino?

I want to move a site off Godaddy Airo. It is a walled garden. I found a slack called "Data Liberation" focusing on the exact topic of breaking free of proprietary platforms. The first person to respond to my introduction and idea works for Godaddy. @photomatt is this for real?

@courtneyr_dev @Will_Patton_88 @photomatt And I explicitly asked if I buy a 3 year managed wordpress with godaddy, can they move the website from the Airo platform to wordpress "it is not possible sorry". That is your companies' approved response that your support reps have to send.

@MichaelRedev @photomatt i tried the free demo. it didn't work. i emailed them to see if they can do it. They have this thing locked down. But hey, they put a planted employee into a site liberation project's slack.

@jn @photomatt There is a paid WP plugin called Octolooks that can scrape the entire site and create pages or posts automatically. I've used it to clone dozens of sites for clients.

@claire_salvo the metro card sometimes wouldn't swipe. The cops did not really care if they caught you and you explained the thing doesn't work, and were not trying to steal a subway ride.

Their terms and conditions are essentially threatening anyone who would dare try this themselves
