Watch Bradley say something to Richie when he was at the line and you can see the slightest hint of a smile. Richie knew… and I knew… game over. 😂 #GoCougs

@xboxter @omgsidewalks I employ a handful of people. No one makes minimum wage, not even the high schoolers. I wish minimum wage would just stop being a thing. The market dictates pretty well what people should be paid.

@jrossean @omgsidewalks You're right, but being a minimum wage, part time employee means less hours, and no benefits. That's a reasonable expectation.

@xboxter @omgsidewalks But when you raise the minimum wage it includes all those kids and college students and a bunch of people that aren’t the primary bread winners.

@jrossean @omgsidewalks Because those are mostly part time positions. A person making minimum wage and working 40 hours a week was intended to be living above the poverty line.

It’s literally the anti nuclear movement all over again. Just massive fear mongering based on nothing. The amount of heat generated on earth from the sun is 100 million atomic bombs. Totally useless metrics exclusively designed to scare people.
Pubity@pubity

Kevin O'Leary's proposed data center in Utah will require 9 Gigawatts of energy to function when fully built, double Utah's current energy usage for the entire state. It will dump around 23 atomic bombs worth of thermal load on the environment every day.

How the sport fundamentally works is definitely Ari saying the quiet part out loud. It works by saying that the conference a team plays in has a set of rules that absolutely vary from conference to conference. That’s how it works. If you’re in the Big12, you have to win the conference or bully the team that wins it at some point before the conference championship. If you’re in the SEC or the B1G, just make sure you finish Top 10. You don’t have to worry about individual match ups because your end of year ranking is the only thing that matters. That also, is significantly manipulatable, but only if you’re in one of those two conferences.
Ari Wasserman@AriWasserman

@BoxScore_FB That brings us back to the importance of scheduling. Alabama isn’t subject to the same situation as BYU because it had wins over two other CFP teams. We argue about the same stuff every year and people still can’t see how the sport fundamentally works.

@ThomasHochman Acid rain. There were components that were legit, but in California in the 80s it was going to destroy entire crops, kill forests, displace wildlife, global catastrophe. Now, it’s in the rear view.

Lying About Data Centers has jumped the barrier from Twitter to prestige media and is now just the base case for most news coverage. Trying to think of a good historical analogue — overpopulation? nuclear?
Andy Masley@AndyMasley

I don't know how you can write an article like this without basically sitting down and saying "I am going to lie to my readers today." I really truly don't understand what's going through the minds of people who write this stuff.

So depending on who you are, you will either believe that this guy is a shill for the bad guys or is an explainer that helps identify half truths and flat out incorrect information that is being reported. It sucks so much that it’s hard for anyone to know.
Andy Masley@AndyMasley

There are so many insane wildly misleading stories coming out about data centers almost every day now that I'm mostly having to give up on commenting on them to focus on actually getting blog posts out, but it feels like a tsunami. I'll share one from just today as an example.

Yes, “diabolical” is an understatement. But, you must understand: Utah is governed over by a cabal of tyrants, villains, and sycophants. There are some good people in government. But they’re mostly totalitarians with a temple recommend. The most diabolical thing though, is that the vast majority of Utahn are completely unaware of it.
Jason Bassler@JasonBassler1

People still aren’t processing how insane this is. They’re weaponizing the 'Military Authority' to fast-track the largest data center on Earth in Utah and using “military operations” & “national security” to shut down any public opposition. “Diabolical” is an understatement.

"Opponents of data centers hate progress and humanity" is the funniest line of argument to me. As if it wasn't obvious which side loathes physical reality and wants to replace it with a digital simulation.
Joel Montfort@jmontforttx

The massive Utah data center, called the Stratos Project, will be as big as 2,000 Walmarts, will need 9GW of electricity to run, and will generate the heat equivalent of 23 atom bombs detonating every single day in Hansel Valley. The expected impact of wildlife is catastrophic. sltrib.com/news/environme…

@jrossean I’m not anonymous. My name is Danny Chadwick and I say so a lot. And yanno, Moroni wrote the book of ether specifically for us as a warning of what’s happening right now. The fact that you’ve already concluded that you won’t listen tells me everything i need to know about you.

@JalenooperDogg @Bellorris Billionaires go in group A. People who make $48000 go in group B. People in group B should not respect people in group A. Ignore this reality at your peril. Dividing people into groups doesn’t do anyone any good.

s/o to the amazing teachers making a difference!! Mylee made a difficult decision a month ago. Friends & mentors have called her selfish & now won’t speak to her. But a teacher without knowing specifics of her decision left her the kindest note on her final assignment.

Those things have been happening for years. Blaming it on the current guy when it happened with the last guy is disingenuous. It is bad, but sometimes life sucks. We just roll on and live. Finding someone to blame for my problems is not a requirement of my programming. I would love a good healthcare conversation. I paid $200 /month for healthcare in 2008. Until my wife got a job with Provo School District I was paying $1400/month. Now we pay $600ish. That needs to be fixed. People shouldn’t have to choose between healthcare and financial ruin. All they’ve done in the past 20 years is enrich insurance companies and give healthcare to lower middle class people on the backs of everyone else.
