@tarzanianmite It actually is spurring new activity. Housing production produces constructive jobs. Housing creates new communities. Low/consistent rents ensure money is spent locally rather than sucked out of the city.

Putting PENSION FUNDS into GOVERNMENT BACKED SECURITIES is the fiscally prudent idea. It reduces exposure to increasingly volatile private markets. Aside from reducing pension volatility, JLGs plan would keep mass investment funding - fuel for economic growth - local.
Eric Goulet@EJGoulet

For me, the moment I realized that I couldn’t sit on the sidelines anymore was when Janeese finally revealed, at a live debate, that she planned to pay for her proposed 72,000 units of housing by raiding “billions of dollars” from DC retiree pensions. (2/4)

@GregoryJackson Sir, thank you for your response. I would ask that you do not conflate affordability with economic vitality. DC government policies contribute to à lack of affordability and economic vitality.

@jrsecrest This is a huge priority for me and can be found on my affordability plan.

DC Residents, As a candidate for DC Council at Large, my commitment is to make DC a safer, more affordable place where ALL can thrive. I am committed to building a real public safety strategy and investments to make our communities safer. I will work to shift the philosophy of the DC Council to make DC a better place for small businesses to open, thrive and create jobs. I am committed to protecting and expanding resources for our youth, both education and recreation to ensure our future generations are better prepared for the real world. Additionally, I will build power within Congress to protect Home Rule and strengthen the coalition fighting for DC Statehood.  I know I’m the best candidate to accomplish that, but in an environment with 8 other candidates and rank choice voting, I encourage my supporters to consider ranking Candace Tiana Nelson and Lisa Raymond high on your list for DC Council At-Large.  At a time when our city faces significant challenges around affordability, public safety, economic opportunity, and trust in government, I believe Candace and Lisa bring the integrity, experience, compassion, and vision necessary to move our communities forward. Candace Tiana Nelson has demonstrated a deep commitment to government service, equity, and community-centered leadership. Her ability to connect policy and government with the real needs of residents makes her a powerful voice for families, working people, and neighborhoods across the District. Lisa Raymond has long been recognized as a thoughtful and results-oriented leader who understands how to bring people together to solve problems, especially in education. Her dedication to public service and improving quality of life for residents reflects the kind of steady leadership our city needs right now. Together, Candace, Lisa and I represent a new generation of leadership grounded in experience, collaboration, accountability, and action. We understand that effective leadership is not about talking points, it is about delivering meaningful results for the people they serve. During this critical time for the District, I encourage residents to support my run for DC Council and consider highly ranking Candace Tiana Nelson and Lisa Raymond. Less talk, more action.  Sincerely, Greg Jackson Jr. Candidate, DC Council At-Large

@RabbiHerzfeld Chuck Schumer’s old lackey and someone named Shmuel Herzfeld trying to smear JLG as ineffective and antisemitic. They are bankrupt on polices and positions so they have to resort to shameless smears. They have nothing in common with Chocolate City and they know it

I have had the exact same experience. She is my CM. Have never ever seen her or met her. I reached out to her after she was first elected. She never even bothered to call back. Clearly I am not her target demographic. I wonder why.
Jim Kessler@ThirdWayKessler

Janeese Lewis George is my DC City Councilwoman. She does absolutely nothing. She never shows up. She never gets anything done. I've never once seen her in my neighborhood. I ranked her last on my Mayor ballot. I'm with @kenyanmcduffie.

DC absolutely needs to be governed well, and it hasn’t been. What has McDuffie done to suggest he’d do anything meaningful to improve city government? JLG is not perfect but I trust her a lot more to build a competent city government.
Neera Tanden🌻@neeratanden

I am voting for McDuffie because I think blue cities need to be governed well, JLG's policies will more likely than McDuffie's raise crime, and Trump would weaponize that against Dems everywhere. My fellow DCers, don't sleepwalk into this

With over 60% of DC residents as renters, we need to make renting more affordable. That’s why Breaking Ground DC includes tax-deductible rent of up to $15,000 per renter per year. My plan also scales what we did at the Aston - a non-congregate transitional site for formerly homeless individuals that moves people into safe, dignified housing - and brings that model nationwide.

…anyways! DC residents - vote for @Janeese4DC! Kenyan McDuffie has accepted countless donations from utility lobbyists, has consistently opposed infrastructure that creates safe streets for bicyclists, and has prioritized car parking over expanding our bus lanes. Janeese, however. is a fantastic, progressive candidate for mayor who has prioritized expanding our public transport system, universal childcare, and building more affordable housing within DC! I’ve met Janeese and members of her team myself and canvassed for her when she ran for reelection to council and she’s the real deal! She’d be an amazing mayor! 😊

I went into this evening's gathering with @kenyanmcduffie a soft supporter. I left very excited to make him my next mayor. His passion for DC is palpable. His vision, experience, and focus are precisely what our nation's capital demands in this moment. I hope you'll join me! secure.actblue.com/donate/foundin…

DC deserves a transit system that works for residents, not just cars and commuters. Too many people are dealing with long waits, unsafe stations, and unreliable service just to live their lives. I am fighting for a transit-first DC: ✔️ Reliable Metro funding ✔️ Safer, accessible stations ✔️ Affordable fares Because transportation = opportunity. #Oye4DC #DCDeservesBetter #TransitEquity

DC residents will never in a million years admit it but between stuff like this and the crackdown on crime, Trump has been DC’s best President in a generation.

A watchful D.C. resident sent me a photo of something we haven’t seen in years; water flowing down the cascading fountain at Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park. NPS started work on the long-dry fountain late last year, as part of a broader project to refurbish the park.

🚨BREAKING: 🚨 Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has reportedly uncovered a DEEP STATE COUP PLOT to remove President Trump from office by SABOTAGING his war effort in Iran in order to turn the American people and the US military against him. Gabbard is also said to have discovered communications between former HIGH-RANKING MILITARY AND INTELLIGENCE OFFICIALS from the first Trump administration and the Biden administration and active members of the military involved in this war in which they are being told to DISOBEY AND REFUSE TO CARRY OUT ORDERS made by President Trump. The Deep State within our government is alive and well... THE ENEMY WITHIN is the greatest existential threat that our nation faces today.

Everyone trashing the streetcar and saying it was a waste of money. It didn't have to be this way actually!!! Long live the streetcar. x.com/theHillisHome/…
The Hill is Home@theHillisHome

The @DCStreetcar is done, ten years and one month after it started operating on H Street NE. It could have been wonderful; it could have been extended. Instead, it was a victim of apathy and lack of caring. Long live the streetcar.

Young people in DC need support, not incarceration. For the past 12 years, I’ve supported thousands of kids with science experiments to get them interested in become pharmacists like me. Right now, kids are acting out and fighting at public spaces like the navy yard. Rather than finding ways to engage youth, The DC Council is looking to extend a juvenile curfew. I oppose extending the curfew because it’s not evidence based, it’s antagonizing and a waste in resources. Kids need programs, not over policing.
