@maxlugavere Pretty sure I wouldn't have made it to adulthood without modern medicine, specifically antibiotics. If I had, I would've died in childbirth. I am very lucky indeed.

What a miracle it is to be alive today. You could’ve been born before we perfected shoes. Before anesthesia. Before antibiotics. Before refrigeration. Before music on demand. Before indoor plumbing. Instead, you arrived in the age of Porsches, Teslas, AI, the internet, Sonos sound systems, espresso machines, climate control, and being able to video call someone across the world from your pocket. Take a moment today to appreciate the absolutely outrageous timeline we’re living in.

@0riettaRose Ride bikes, roller blades/skates, catch toads as a pet for a day, play in the sand box and on swings, pickup sports, sidewalk chalk and bubbles, sprinkler on the lawn, catch fish in the drainage creek, make forts in the woods, manhunt and capture the flag after dark.

Low stimulation things kids did for fun in the late '90s/early 2000s: • Stare up at the sky & look at cloud pictures • Make birds' nests • Walk to the playground • Read books • Play with Barbie dolls, Legos, & Lincoln Logs Add to the list!

@exceeding_love Very American. Although a lot of the grandma names in my family tend to be what the oldest grandchild called them...grammy, mehma, mima, gigi. We are a sentimental folk.

@travis4nh It will shake out weird in the medium term. Are robots really going to be able to replace nurses and plumbers in the next 10 years? I guess the ambitious ppl will still be working for quite a while.

I actually think we will have UBI in 20 years. Going to be very interesting to watch the cognitive bottom 50% spend their money on weed, motor toys, and gambling, next 40% on cruises and theme parks, and the rest on art, tools, gardening, books. Real H.G. Wells / Huxley stuff.

Universal HIGH INCOME via checks issued by the Federal government is the best way to deal with unemployment caused by AI. AI/robotics will produce goods & services far in excess of the increase in the money supply, so there will not be inflation.

Saw a bunch of people on Facebook today upset over calling sitting cross legged "criss cross applesauce" instead of "Indian style." And like...where have y'all been? Teachers have been calling it criss cross applesauce for nearly 30 years. This is not a new development.

@CatholicCharm I think it depends how old your parents are. Past a certain point the roles do reverse and you have to takd care of them like a child. Which does include hiding your own issues so they don't have to worry. But this point is prob not until your parents are 70+

@TheJadedOne2021 Housing affordability aside, they should have more than that. Maybe a large debt payment.

28 days of annual leave. Out of 365. Your employer owns 337 days of your year. You get 28. And half of those you spend recovering from the other 337. How is this the "good deal" everyone told you to be grateful for?

To be blunt, I don't see the issues in public schools being fixed at scale 😐 The only 'fix' imo is mass abandonment & we're actually heading that way with teachers quitting & parents choosing other education options. Soliciting opinions: What would fix public school?

@ouranometrian2 I think it's bc they're not trained how to do it. They might know less on the topic than a well informed patient.

I actually dont get why ob/gyn seems so reluctant to do hormone blood panels. Seems like it should be fairly routine around menopause/issues in puberty and around child birth

@turbopisser Shoes off is a trend that older generations don't understand. Our millennial house is shoes-off unless we have a party/company then we just clean up afterwards.

@ParkSlopeFlngsm Just birthed a son and will not be sending him to public school unless things change a lot. It was bad when I was in school, it's even worse now.

There are many leftists who think that a schizo screaming in public should not be forced into a facility and medicated because it’s a violation of civil liberties, who also think that the state should force parents (homeschooling bad!) to turn over their children to a facility every day where hyperactive boys will be medicated if their behavior isn’t docile enough How do they reconcile this? I don’t know. I guess it feels mean to them to institutionalize schizos, but they see it as a vital role of the state to aggressively socialize and indoctrinate young men even to the point of despondency

@maggiemoda I mean, if he's job searching after getting laid off I can see it for a short time. But yeah nothing beyond a few months at most.

@New_E_Mom The main thing about looking attractive is not being fat. It's actually pretty easy to do that postpartum if you breastfeed.

@Romy_Holland I ended up with huge stretch marks, varicose veins, c section scar and I just don't see an issue with it. Past a certain age, no one's body is perfect anymore. It's just a part of aging. I care more about how I feel in my own skin than how it looks.

my hips definitively expanded by a couple inches due to pregnancy. I'm pretty happy about this—big hips are obviously hot. I'm within 3lbs of my pre-pregnancy weight now and larger hips are the only tell that I was ever pregnant. I see a bunch of body-positivity content that has the stated intention to help normalize postpartum body changes. this is fine, but I suspect a majority of people who see it are actually women who have never been pregnant and who just grow increasingly terrified that they'll end up with huge stretch marks and tons of excess skin and 20lbs they can't lose. this could happen to you! but I think the more likely outcome is that you get slightly bigger hips and end up basically as hot as you started.

Team green supremacy!!!! Everybody says “oh I couldn’t!” And my response is just yes you can! You can do anything you put your mind to! You just don’t want to wait for the best surprise ever!!!
Mrs Nerdy Engineer@HeatherMJames3

I’m seeing a resurgence of mom friends not finding out what they’re having and I LOVE IT! We loved the surprise when we could keep it that way without a ton of extra scans (it’s hard to avoid with complications and extra ultrasounds) and it’s such a nice surprise at the end!
