@leah_hat At 19 months I’m still breastfeeding and cosleeping. So I’m not leaving baby anywhere for any amount of time

I feel insane in a FB group with someone asking about leaving their 19 month old for a weekend retreat and every other comment is “NO I WOULD NEVER LEAVE A CHILD THAT YOUNG”

@polyeaster Or rather, you think that’s an unsafe choice? Nobody has to leave their kids but it’s silly to imply it’s unsafe for a mom to go on a retreat and leave the child with its father?

@leah_hat Are they saying they wouldn't leave their own kids, or saying that she shouldn't? Those are wildly different statements, and the first is perfectly valid.

@leah_hat El oh el. When my 2nd was 11 months, T went to Peru FOR A MONTH as part of her nursing school group. Her sister came to hang out with the kids during the day, & I had both of them solo on my days off & in the evenings. Dad's are parents too 😂

@ThatRosaryGirl You can also level up your child by opening a card in their name and letting them use it for gas and the by the time they graduate high school the can have 2+ years of credit history

Kind of unconventional advice but actually there’s nothing wrong with taking out a small amount in student loans and using that to establish your credit. My credit score is really good for my age because I have 6 years of history and multiple lines of credit

Thank you❤️ This explanation was given to me by a fertility specialist, fwiw. She explained that implantation does occur but it is incomplete in some way. It was really cool to hear about the anatomy of the embryo and how its structures attach to the uterine wall. But she also said that there is no way to know what actually physically happened so there's that. It's encouraging to know that it worked, just need to get it to stick

Had a moment recently with a (very dear!) friend who is pregnant with her 4th under 5 where she said something about “chemical pregnancies” being false positives. I had to tell her that no, they aren’t, it’s just a very early miscarriage. And she was shocked and felt terrible for thinking otherwise!

@leah_hat Says life starts at conception, then goes to try to discount grief of loss.

Almost to drive home this point, someone replied this to me, then blocked me, and tweeted about how people are “too sensitive” because I said losing a baby is equally devastating no matter at 5 weeks or 8 weeks

I had to learn what a chemical pregnancy was because I had one! And I still have to hear people (out of ignorance, not malice) tell me it wasn’t a “real” pregnancy. It’s hard to remember that so many other people never have the grief or loss that I carry with me every day.

@theselowfeet I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t agree with the definition - you can’t get a positive pregnancy test if the baby doesn’t implant. The clinical definition is a miscarriage within the first 5 weeks.

@leah_hat Followup here because I actually just had a call with my doctor about this. (Currently experiencing one now, keeping it real) A chemical pregnancy is a failure of the embryo to properly implant in the uterine wall. I had never heard that before.

@gusgirl03 Yes! I had later losses and they were harder in different ways, but the grief of losing a child was the same no matter what

@leah_hat My loss was a chemical pregnancy. At one time felt like I didn't get to be as sad as someone who lost a pregnancy further along. Then I had a friend who lost a full term baby to a placental abruption tell me my loss was just as important as hers. Both were much wanted babies.
