Secunderabad Station was proposed in 1870 by then Nizam, Mahboob Ali Khan Siddiqui, to connect Hyderabad State with rest of India. The Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway, was formed as a private entity, and construction began on Secunderabad to Wadi Jn line, that would in turn connect to the Great Indian Peninsula Railway. Both the station and the railway line were completed on 9 October 1874, bringing Hyderabad on to the Railway Map of India.

@rautsanjay61 @realDonaldTrump You are inviting a foreign power to meddle in India’s internal Affairs? Might as well invite the British back while you are at it. We know you are unhinged. Why not go all the way to insanity.

I had written an open letter to President Trump, @realDonaldTrump as he has always spoken about democracy and fair elections, and wanted to bring the truth to his attention. As a responsible Indian, and Member of Parliament, it is my duty to shed light on the fact that this election was carried out in an absolute lopsided manner. To begin with, the Opposition Parties that represent more than half of India’s vote share officially in 2024, have raised doubts over the fairness and neutrality of the Chief Election Commissioner and his motives. The Election Commission, under the CEC’s guidance has barred 9 million voters from voting overnight, without a fair appeal or any further justice. More so, even while Manipur burnt with violence, this election saw the deployment of central forces in millions, including tanks and encounter specialists, as a mark of force. It is my duty, to ensure that everyone is aware, the world over (be it a president of an important democracy or a citizen of any country) that the elections haven’t been as free and fair as shown by sections of media to the world. The disenfranchised voters, and those who faced fear while casting their vote raise questions even today. EVMs have been doubted for 2 decades and rigging issues have been raised by India’s leader of opposition. I strongly believe that leaders of democracies around the world cannot be kept away from the fact that the institutions that once ensured our elections to be free and fair, are now being questioned.

No hate for Chatrapati shivaji maharaj... But, we should stop it, No one idea based and Better than shivaji maharaj in Bengali.. He is Dakat Benimadhav Ray, first glorify the local kings then others... But we should stop ignoring our own regional heroes. No one inspired Bengal the way Benimadhav Ray did. First glorify local kings and warriors, then others. The Bengali Pandit who offered Narabali of Pathan invaders before Goddess Kali. In the 16th century, the Sanskrit scholar Benimadhav and his group became a terror for Afghan invaders. Pathans used to demolish temples, destroy murtis, and force Hindus to stop their worship and puja. Seeing the chaotic condition of society, Benimadhav decided to take up the sword to protect Dharma. He was a skilled swordsman, and it is said that on every Amavasya night, he offered the bali of Pathan invaders at the feet of his worshipped Goddess Kali. Joy Kali Joy Benimadhav Ray 🚩 Joy Bangla 🔱

What's a good retirement fund number to target? I certainly believe having $1 million (~₹9 crores) in liquid assets (bonds, FDs, mutual funds, equities, PPF) is a good sum to plan for retirement.

His name was Saurabh Kumar Ladda. He was 25 years old. Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras. MBA from IIM Calcutta. CFA Level 1 certified. He joined McKinsey and Company as a junior analyst in August 2022. On Friday, February 23, 2024, he returned home to his apartment in Wadala, Mumbai, after a work trip to Ahmedabad at 10:30 at night. At 11:15, he jumped from the ninth floor. In his last phone call to his girlfriend, he spoke about the pressure he was facing on his project. Police recorded statements from his flatmates, family, colleagues and seniors. The official police investigation concluded his death was due to pressure at his workplace. He was 25 years old. IIT. IIM. McKinsey. Every milestone India tells its young people to chase. Today is International Labour Day. The day the world stops to ask what we owe the people who work. India has no law that limits working hours for white collar professionals. The Factories Act caps factory workers at 48 hours a week. For salaried office employees, there is no legal ceiling. Saurabh Kumar Ladda is not the first. He will not be the last. Follow for real stories India never makes headlines about.

@maa_bhaishiiH @labstamil Churches in the US cannot directly endorse a candidate but are allowed to endorse issues. They use this first amendment privilege to talk about issues like abortion and immigration etc. they are also allowed to be partisan like denying communion to certain candidates

Btw, in the United States, churches are technically legally forbidden to endorse or oppose a particular political candidate in an official capacity, failing which they can lose their tax-exempt status. Pastors are also not allowed to campaign for any particular political candidate and ask their congregation to vote for them. Church cannot use any of their resources for political campaigning. I am sceptical of the assumption that the Opposition Parties will face any negative impact from ensuring the failure of the Women's Reservation Bill. Genuinely don't think women at large care much about it. Simply because it isn't something that affects them much in any manner. I could be wrong. But it doesn't seem like an issue that invokes strong emotions in people either way. I could be wrong, of course.

There never was a time that our elections were free of freebies. TN in 96 - free TVs, free rice, free gold thalis (mangalsutra), free power to farmers etc Cbn lost to YSR because he didn't offer freebies but YSR did. Free power, free rice etc. Ktka was better and Modiji didn't offer free anything.

@dhume Quality of education in English is very poor. People in rural and semi rural areas lose creating unnecessary divide. But India needs one language. Perhaps Hindi but written in Tamil script might make everyone suffer equally

This is a good argument for Indians to learn Hindi voluntarily. But it downplays several real issues with the Hindi-imposition project: 1. It artificially privileges one linguistic group in the subcontinent over others. 2. Hindi represents a region that is (currently) economically and intellectually backward, especially compared to the South. 3. It is not the language of transnational science or commerce, or the language that most Indian elites reach for by instinct and habit. (Watch a video of Mukesh Ambani talking to his kids.) 4. Some of the most enthusiastic votaries of Hindi are also actively hostile to English, which naturally creates disquiet among many educated Indians across the country.
Śrutaṃ me gopāya@shrutammegopaya

The opposite argument is this It is important for all Indians to have a common “Indian” language as lingua Franca English cannot be that language though it can serve as a secondary lingua franca Among all the Indian languages Hindi is best placed to serve as lingua franca for a variety of reasons 1. It is widely comprehended by a majority of indians (even without “imposition”) 2. It is the only prakrit that has transcended a regional identity thanks to its spread as hindavi through medieval empires serving as medium 3. It represents everything that sanskrit has to offer in terms of intellectual / technical vocabulary while being easier to learn than sanskrit with a far simpler grammar / fewer cases etc 4. It has had a lot of work put into it in 19th and 20th centuries and has proved adaptable and resilient in the face of modernity unlike some of the more ancient southern languages that have regressed and turned more conservative (like tamil) 5. It is a v elegant language that is least diglossic among all indian languages. Resembles english in that respect
