I learned something today how staking works in @overlayerfi incentivized testnet. 💡 I thought it was jus too much for my asset to get reduced from 500 to 481 after being staked but then I realized it doesn't work that way. I read the docs and found that the protocol is doing the math based on the live exchange rate R at the moment you staked. My overlaid asset is acually non-rebasing and fully liquid. When I stake C+, I'll get sC+ and that is how staking representation works. Yield accrues via exchange-rate appreciation, not wallet rebasing. So If I deposit 500 C+, the contract calculates how much staking share (sC+) to mint using the exchange rate R = (total overlaid assets backing the pool) ÷ (total staking shares). So 481 sC+ is the staking shares I received, not the full overlaid-asset amount I deposited. This is acually good cos as R keeps rising from future yield, each of your shares becomes worth more C+/T+. When you unstake, you always get back the full current value = (your shares × current R) If overtime the current R increases, your full current value increases as well. If you're also confuse as to why this happen when you stake, you know the reason, you’re not losing anything - you’re just seeing the number of shares rather than the underlying value.
