Even in a full rebuild scenario, I don't see a scenario where Tavares leaves. Even rebuilding teams need some good vets in the room to eat minutes and be a mentor. He's not only fit for that role but I think he wants to stay in Toronto no matter what.

Leafs fans, Matthews is an elite goal scorer. But he still needs 501 more goals to break Ovechkin’s goal record (928) if Ovi doesn’t score another goal. Matthews currently has 428 career goals. He needs at least 9 more 50 goal seasons plus 1 season with 51 goals. Matthews will be 29 years old next season.
