South Florida schools would lose $1b under DeSantis’ tax plan, analysis finds miamiherald.com/news/local/edu…

Local governments took $32 billion in property taxes in 2019. Today, they are taking $60 billion. Meanwhile, at the state level, Florida has reduced spending four years in a row — even though we’ve had both inflation and population growth. Exempting homesteads can be done. And it it will help millions of Floridians.

MAGA hates Black political power so much they just canceled the election results in Alabama to erase another Black district from the map. Voter suppression.

Homeownership should NOT be limited to one generation. 🚨Miami-Dade🚨 Are Miami Commissioner Vicki Lopez and her bestie, Miami-Dade mayor Daniella Levine Cava, simply advocating for themselves (primarily senior citizens ) instead of ALL homeowners? Why do they continue to push homestead tax relief focused solely on senior citizens while younger families are left behind—families working to buy homes, raise children, build stability, and create generational wealth! Even Commissioner Oliver Gilbert pushes back, at the end of this video (from a few weeks back), emphasizes that Commissioner Vicki Lopez (69) and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava (70) should recognize that being on a fixed income does not automatically mean being low-income… (that one seems to be directed at them 👀) ✅ young families deserve a fair shot to achieve the American dream ❌ stop the overspending in Miami-Dade—on mediocre staffers who are paid 425k+ a yr. ❌ end the misadministration of tax payer funds‼️ ❌ end fraud and corruption 👇 Full video below—you can tell Daniella Levine Cava and Vicki Lopez have already worked out their own numbers before this meeting. 👇 Why discriminate against the younger generation? I’m concerned.

“The Broward School District would lose $294 million in the first year, or 13.1%. In the second year, the losses would increase to $455 million, or 20.2%.” $455M !!! Broward JUST laid off 300 teachers and left 700 positions open bc of a $90 budget deficit. $455M = 5000 TEACHERS

Things #Teachers don’t talk about: That unpaid hour before school where you’re setting up the room, printing papers, and trying to mentally prepare for the day.

Somewhere in America right now, a middle school is promoting a student to high school who cannot read. An elementary school passed them first. Everyone was nice about it. Nobody helped.

@jhaskinscabrera Local governments in Florida have nearly doubled their property tax hauls—from $32 billion in 2019 to around $60 billion now. That’s an enormous sum built on paper valuations and unrealized gains, not actual cash in people’s pockets. It’s long past time to recalibrate to reality
