@chilly_jpgs spot on! this is exactly what needs to be said. art on chain isn't a physical print, it's a living asset. if artists want to collect lifetime royalties, they must accept lifetime responsibility for maintenance. this isn't a chain issue, it's a responsibility issue.

Yes: Bitcoin inscriptions (e.g., via Ordinals) can embed the full artwork directly on-chain. That reduces reliance on off-chain storage (like IPFS or Arweave) and avoids typical metadata risks. BUT let’s break it down technically. “No platform risk” ✅ You don’t rely on marketplaces like OpenSea or Nifty Gateway for file hosting. ⚠️ But you do rely on the stability of the Ordinals protocol and indexing software to read and display the asset correctly. “No custody games” ✅ True if you self-custody with your own wallet and inscription-aware tools. ⚠️ False if you’re using custodial services, marketplaces, or trust third parties to hold or manage the asset. “No middlemen left to mess it up” ✅ You can verify the art via the blockchain itself. ⚠️ But rendering, selling, and discovering the art still involve frontends, wallets, and platforms that can fail or change. ☝️Smart contracts & standards Bitcoin lacks native NFT standards (like Ethereum’s ERC-721/1155). No royalty logic, no composability, no interactivity. This limits on-chain programmability compared to Ethereum, Tezos, etc. ☝️Scalability & cost Bitcoin is not optimized for large-scale on-chain media. Partly out of nostalgia, partly because I trusted the platform’s security. and to be fair, that trust has never been disappointed. Diversifying across multiple custodians was another reason for me. But I have to admit: I never really thought about the long-term storage of the actual media files. Now all we can do is hope Nifty acts in the best interest of artists and collectors and secures the link between the tokens and their media for the future.

Just pulled my PRIME EXAMPLE by @money_alotta out of the Nifty Omnibus wallet. If Alotta could see what’s happening to Nifty’s NFTs right now, he’d be spinning in his grave. Honestly: No batch transfer?!? Are you kiddin us?
