the github repo isn't up yet since it still needs some work also SampleServer is a placeholder name (after i changed it from OpenSplice to not get sued), let me know if anyone has any good name ideas because i ran out of cool sounding words to put together

none of these sample packs are on my computer i'm making an open source tool similar to splice where anyone can host up to thousands of sample packs and you can instantly search and drag them into ableton or fl studio, downloading them as needed #ableton #musicproduction

@Intervolver it's not p2p (although that could be interesting to add), it's just a web server hosting an api, think of it like connecting to a minecraft server, but you can connect to multiple at once and it'll mix the results from them

the game is still almost certainly coming out this year it's been in confirmed development since 2020, 6 years ago, longer than any other half life game, they're likely waiting on the steam machine i'll be posting new updates or rumours as soon as there are any

@themetaroom yeah probably lol, you could in theory ctrl+a freeze then file > collect all and the project folder becomes sharable regardless of setup but it'd only work for projects that still work locally

@ShareX The way it was originally announced (and talked about twice after) did not make it look like a "vibe coded comparison experiment" and rather a new project that a lot of people were waiting for, it feels like this framing of it was only added in retrospect

Clarification about XerahS: it is an experimental side-project, completely separate from ShareX, used as a playground to test agentic coding among other tools. ShareX is here to stay. It remains the same battle-tested software you already know, still maintained and updated using traditional development methods. Keep in mind the existence of Half Life 3 is NOT a rumour, HLX strings clearly referring to a flat screen Half Life game, with some new NPCs being directly named, have been showing up in games for 6 years now and Valve recently confirmed they're not making any VR games or demos

Valve has confirmed that the Steam Machine was delayed due to shortages but will still release within the first half of the year. Half Life 3 / HLX might be announced alongside it or shortly after, which might imply HL3 in the first half of 2026, but #HalfLife3 #HLX #Steam #Valve
