Today my brother teacher @EnochBurke went before a disciplinary appeal panel. He was suspended from his job and jailed after refusing to accept transgenderism. What took place today was shocking. ➡️ By law the panel is to be an “informal hearing”. ➡️ When he arrived he was confronted by a top Employment Barrister as well as a Solicitor from a major Dublin law firm. ➡️The lawyers were acting for the school. ➡️ The presence of lawyers at such an appeal is contrary to law and to Department of Education procedures for dealing with appeals. ➡️ Enoch objected to the presence of these lawyers. ➡️ The Chair of the Disciplinary Appeals Panel, Claire Callanan said to Mr Burke: “We may be wrong and you may be right but we are going ahead nonetheless.” ➡️ When Enoch continued to object, he was removed by prison guards. ➡️ When members of his family who were present objected, they were removed by police. ➡️ Enoch Burke was taken back in a prison van to Castlerea prison. This is an utterly appalling and unbelievable travesty of justice.

BREAKING: Shocking scenes as Enoch Burke denied justice and forced out of Appeal Hearing by prison officers Enoch Burke’s mother Martina Burke and brother Dr Isaac Burke were also removed by police. At the start of the Disciplinary Appeal Panel hearing, which is by law an “informal” hearing, Enoch Burke objected to the presence of a top Employment Barrister as well as a Solicitor from a major Dublin law firm. Despite Enoch Burke’s repeated objections, the Chair of the Disciplinary Appeals Panel, Claire Callanan said to Mr Burke: “We may be wrong and you may be right but we are going ahead nonetheless.” Barrister Barra Faughnan BL and Solicitor Fiona Sheil of Mason Hayes & Curran Solicitors were acting for Wilson’s Hospital School at the hearing in Athlone today. The presence of lawyers at such an appeal is contrary to settled law and Department of Education procedures for dealing with appeals. Enoch Burke has now spent over 650 days behind bars after refusing to use they/them pronouns for a student. These are the third Disciplinary Appeal Panel proceedings in relation to Enoch Burke that have ended in shambles.

BBC BROKE EQUALITY LAW AND GOT CAUGHT Carrie Gracie spent 30 years at the @BBC. She spoke fluent Mandarin. She ran the Beijing bureau. She was one of four international editors, two men and two women. Then in 2017 the BBC was forced to publish salary data. Gracie looked at what her male equivalent, the North America editor, was earning. He was on nearly double her salary. She had explicitly said equal pay was a condition of taking the China role. The BBC agreed. Then quietly paid her far less anyway. She asked for equal pay. The BBC offered her a raise that still left her below the men. She turned it down. She resigned from the China post in January 2018 and published an open letter telling the licence fee public exactly what their broadcaster was doing. The BBC then put her through nearly a year of an internal grievance process that went nowhere. It took three meetings with the Director-General and the threat of an employment tribunal before she got a public apology and the backdated pay owed to her. The total came to £361,000. She donated every penny to the Fawcett Society (@fawcettsociety), the gender equality charity. She said the fight was about principle, not the payout. A publicly funded institution, legally obligated to follow equality law, paid women less than men in identical roles, got caught, dragged it out for a year, and only coughed up under threat of a tribunal. That is not a pay oversight. That is a policy. Gracie did not ask for a favour. She asked for what she was owed. The BBC made her fight for it like it was a privilege. Channel 4 Dispatches went undercover inside the Financial Ombudsman Service @financialombuds. What they filmed should have shut the place down. Their own staff said this on camera: --- "I'm not proud to admit it but I've done it myself. Just taken a chance and just slung stuff through, with any old decision." --- "You're more likely to meet your targets if you're not upholding them." --- 11,000 cases fell into a black hole for two years. Some of those letters said "I am going to lose my house." @UKParliament demanded answers. Baroness Ros Altmann called it shocking. MPs threatened a full inquiry. FOS called the footage "not representative." Nothing changed. That was then. Today my own complaint against @rsagroup / @IntactInsurance is formally handled by Gary Smith @G8GWS of @MeridianLegals as my regulated representative. Gary leads the FOS Litigation Group, built on over 1,000 documented FOS failures. He is preparing a judicial review of the FOS. What happened to me fits the same pattern Channel 4 filmed. That is why Meridian submitted my case. If your FOS complaint was dismissed without proper scrutiny, contact Gary directly at Meridian Legal Services. Call: 0121 516 0675 @MeridianLegals The full transcript of what @C4Dispatches filmed inside the FOS is in the comments.

During a recent senior reps meeting with the TFL commissioner and deputy mayor, our general secretary raised concerns about LCY and their change of what was agreed . Initially, they had agreed to charge £6 for drop-off and increase pick up fee from £2 to £3 but now they’ve decided to charge £7 for drop off and to keep the pick up fee at £2 TFL admitted they were unaware of this change and have written to LCY, the UCG have asked Tfl for updates. However, we haven’t received anything yet. We’re compelled to take a journey we’re not compelled where we Rank that is an individual choice. It’s unfair that those dropping off subsidise those who choose to rank at LCY. Some might think it’s only a pound but it sets a dangerous precedent. We shouldn’t subsidise those flying out of LCY or those ranked there.

Campaigners demand £72,000-a-year Tube driver jobs are advertised on the open market. TfL currently only offers the high-paying roles internally to existing staff first under a long-standing agreement with the RMT union. The jobs require just GCSEs in maths and English yet pay a base of £71,170, rising to over £80,000 with overtime, plus a gold-plated pension and free travel. The TaxPayers’ Alliance has slammed the “union stranglehold” and called it an insult to Londoners that creates a closed shop for union insiders. They say blocking external recruitment kills competition and artificially inflates wages at taxpayers’ expense. This comes as the RMT continues striking, costing the economy up to £250 million.

Do you recognise this woman? Officers investigating a racial abuse incident onboard a train between Blackburn and Mill Hill are today releasing this image in connection. At 8:37am on Wednesday 1 April, a member of staff asked to see a woman’s ticket. She refused to provide details and then became abusive to the member of staff. As the woman left the train, she became racially abusive towards the member of staff. Officers believe the woman in this image may have information that could help their investigation. Anyone who recognises any of the women is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 166 of 1 April.

A woman orders an Uber Black after a night out. The car arrives, everything looks right, and she gets in. A few minutes later, a police officer knocks on the driver’s window and asks him to show his app. Instead of cooperating, the driver locks the doors and rolls up the windows; with her still in the back seat. Her heart starts racing. She quietly starts recording on her phone and firmly tells him to follow the officer’s instructions. The driver turns to her and says, “Tell them you got in the car by mistake.” She agrees; but only if he unlocks the doors. More police units arrive. After a tense few minutes, he finally unlocks the car and she gets out. Officers ask to see her app. The name and photo on her phone don’t match the driver. They tell her this is happening more often; people using or buying Uber accounts because they can’t pass background checks, don’t have a license, or aren’t safe to drive. This situation could have gone very differently. Matching the car isn’t enough; always verify the driver’s name and photo before getting in. And if something feels off, trust that instinct immediately. Safety isn’t about being polite; it’s about being aware and ready to act. Do you always double-check your ride details before getting in, or would you assume the car is safe if everything “looks right”?
