@mayhewsucks @doddridge_chris @JCbronco21 @JJFromTheBronx Not at all, do you not understand that food/drink costs more at events vs a casino or restaurant bar? Even so drinks at events aren’t topping $50, like I said, I paid $28 for one once but that isn’t your average drink price because it was at an event!

Watch closely, this isn’t happening by accident. Doug Ford is following the same playbook we’re seeing elsewhere. Step by step, it mirrors what Danielle Smith is doing in Alberta and what the U.S. system has normalized for years. This is how it starts:
Underfund public healthcare → create frustration → introduce “alternatives” → normalize private, for-profit care → bring in insurance-driven models. And let’s be clear the capitalist private insurance companies have been eyeing Canada for decades. There’s been pressure going back to the Harper era to open that door. Because once it opens, it doesn’t close. Universal healthcare isn’t just a system it’s a safeguard. And if people don’t pay attention now, we risk waking up to something very different. This isn’t fear-mongering. It’s a pattern. And patterns matter.

100 billion for a tunnel. No money for OSAP. 10 million for strippers. No money for healthcare. 29 million for a private jet. No money for education. THIS IS FISCAL CONSERVATISM. Every time they are in office they rob us blind. Feather their little nests like Mike Harris did. Kickbacks, gifts, missing funds. It's not a one off. Mike Harris opened the door in Ontario to privatized long term care. When he left office he just "happened" to be made CEO of a long term care company and owns a few of his own. Andrew Scheer paid for his kids private education and a minivan from party funds until he was caught. Now Doug Ford is telling us we are broke while buying a private jet for his use. It's not a bug, it's a feature. The Conservatives will watch people suffer while enjoying their perks. The suffering only adds to their pleasure. @fordnation

Today, the Liberals rejected our NDP motion to ban surveillance pricing - a dystopian practice that will drive up costs for Canadians if we allow it to take root. The NDP is the only party fighting to protect you from getting ripped off at the checkout.
Don Davies@DonDavies

Today I proposed banning "surveillance pricing" — a creepy practice where corporations weaponize your personal data to rip you off. Deeply disappointed the motion was rejected. Canadians are already being crushed by sky-high costs. They deserve relief, not corporate exploitation.

Since when did we as a society decide that companies are untouchable, pristine vessels who should not be inconvenienced and have a right to make as much money as possible through any means possible. That’s how we get grocery stores consistently ripping us off

David Cochrane: I saw you posting that you need a price cap at the pump... but you are then telling Canadian energy companies to take a haircut. Avi Lewis: Canadian energy companies can afford a haircut when they are forecast to make $100 billion in excess revenue this year alone

What happens in two weeks when gas prices climb back up 10 cents? Classic conservative move, meaningless tax cuts in order to safeguard corporate profits. We don’t need tax cuts, we need price caps.
