My favorite metrics: 365 day rolling average of volume 365 day rolling average of intensity. Keeps you real. Keeps you honest.

@jlAreta In reality, no. However, since the W’ is a mathematical abstraction, you never know it exactly, so the athlete may reach “exhaustion” at a number that is slightly positive or negative, depending on how good your model is.

My new book is finally rolling off the presses! It provides many real-world examples of the application of science to athlete training and racing. On the page below, I show how you can use the W’ balance model to better pace the cycling leg of a triathlon.

@NiteRiderLight I've got an out of warranty Lumina 900 with a dead cell. I'm going to replace the cell. Why are there two reds and two blacks attached to the cell? Thanks.

@runnersworld "The bottom line" is that everyone is different. I for one love me some data both during and after a run.

All done with these. 3” white floor tape cut into circles. 2” colored floor tape cut into circles. Sharpie numbers. 1-24. Each year I have to replace maybe 3 or 4. #physed

Here is a thought: Since all the atoms/molecules that comprise "me" are constantly turning over/being replaced, the "substance" of me is not moving through time, only the "energy disturbance" that is me. That makes me...a wave...and I keep propagating until I hit the shore 🤔

@hubermanlab Here we go with another "hydrate" reminder...A better message would be "don't ignore thirst... drink when thirsty"

There are a lot of reasons to hydrate well - and keep electrolyte levels in normal range. One less obvious one: blood sugar regulation. These are my personal data but this is a well established phenomenon whereby dehydration triggers a blood glucose spike. Solution: hydrate.

Trick your body into thinking its survival is at stake: skip meals, lift heavy things, avoid over-eating & snacking, experience hot and cold, do aerobic exercise until you’re out of breath & take supplements proven to mimic them Lifespanbook.com #fitness #HealthTech

@dwrowland @altini_marco @PolarGlobal Thanks. I can't for the life of me find where a Garmin chest strap using Bluetooth has been shown to be less accurate than Polar. Anything handy you could link for me? Thanks again.

@mtnmaxn @altini_marco @PolarGlobal We haven't seen accurate results from any wrist-based monitors no matter which brand. However, in this regard we're referring to Garmin chest strap sensors which appear to be less accurate than Polar models.

The problem is when folks are willing to track but unwilling to change. If you're seeing "yep another night of 6 hours of crappy sleep" night after night on your tracker, you're completely missing the point.
Brad Stulberg@BStulberg

Part of the reason that so many people are so tired is because they track so many things. If you are tracking your sleep, then, in a sense, you are working even when you are sleeping. Same goes for eating, taking steps, and so on. It is an utterly exhausting way to live.

Aggregation of 7 race files from MvDP (1-6h). Example of how a clearly polarized power distribution can give a pyramidal HR distribution....just so we are clear on the potential mismatch. Power cutoffs from accompanying analytics. %HRR zones are "typical" for the elite level.

@chasingtheshade @stevemagness I bet! And if I'm not mistaken, one study I skimmed said you would have to eat somewhere around 12 ounces of it to test positive.

For those who've asked my thoughts on the nandrolone positive. It comes down to this chart. I added a red line and box to follow. From what we know so far, the crux of the argument comes in on the GC/C/IRMS test, interpretation, and procedure.
