Robert Walls was one of the most impactful people in my football journey; just 7 months as my first AFL coach. He was hard but fair and drove unrelenting standards around putting team over individual, ruthlessly schooling those that refused to. I am forever in his debt 🙏❤️

Surely I’m not the first person to start pressure cleaning the front porch and finish 50m down the road?

@1116sen @SENBreakfast "Rhylee West is quite a limited player." What fuck are you smoking, @ncb_cfc? He's the only Bulldogs player with any semblance of footy IQ. Every week he's drawing breath, he should be playing AFL footy. Such an asinine statement from an otherwise astute judge.

Will the Bulldogs under Luke Beveridge ever finish inside the top 4? Kane Cornes remains frustrated with their inability to maximise their talent. @SENBreakfast | #AFL

@PhilPtw Fair thought. Maybe the players and the league itself share the freight needed to cover the. Players effectively. As a sign of the shared responsibility and accountability for any possible worst case scenarios from time in the game as a professional.

@ncb_cfc That makes the dangerous assumption that player plays long enough or is paid enough to manage after care in life, as well as that they set aside or financially invest in their own after care. How about pay more but into an enhanced insurance or superannuation specific to players?

AFL last night was held to account on their very own rules. An action “likely to cause injury” Players take the field accepting that injury, in some shape or form, is probable in a game based on contest. This is a consequential reality that cannot be legislated out of the game

@ncb_cfc @Chinch1062 The opposite needs to happen. Instead setting up protection in the shape of insurance for all players in the same mould as work cover. Contact is inevitable, concussions will happen, permanent disabilities can happen. Hopefully it doesn’t. Have the cover for the event it does.

@PhilPtw A large share of those profits goes to the players up front. Most play football for the love, they get paid to handle and absorb the professional demands including the physical requirements of the game.

@ncb_cfc If it can not be legislated for player protection then the AFL best set aside its volumous profits to manage the care after football for all players, and increase player salaries. Signing waivers or indemnifying the AFL is immoral and disingenuous.

@Chinch1062 It’s exactly what needs to take place…with a shared and genuine love, appreciation and gratitude for the game and what it provides as a basis. I believe there is enough of that to find common ground.

@ncb_cfc Why can’t AFLPA, AFL, legal come together draft waiver, disclaimer, MOU, contract appendix etc players sign accepting consequences of football actions considered “reasonably unavoidable” & AFL commits to duty of care for avoidable incidents by imposing significant sanctions

@PatrickRyen You can’t stop all contact and probability of injury. The long term effects of head trauma is better managed individually as it has in recent years with early retirements due to the prospect of negative affect later in life given greater priority than the next 4 points.

@ncb_cfc That's a fair point. I didn't think of that one Bucks 🤔 I actually agree with the premise of what you're saying. My point it they'll legislate it out to protect players head. Teammate on teammate hard 🤷 last night was a loophole. Similar to Cripps getting off on appeal.
