When we started learning Enterprise Risk Management at Columbia, the first few foundational classes were always about the “Three Lines of Defense”: 1st line: Business and operations teams that own the risk 2nd line: Risk and compliance teams that set policies and controls 3rd line: Internal audit, which independently verifies everything Most AI agent companies have already solved the first and second lines of defense, but the third line remains unresolved. I believe blockchain technology is the missing piece. It’s the only technology capable of providing a tamper-resistant, independently verifiable audit layer for autonomous agents.
