If you're a scientifically illiterate Apollo denier, anti-vaxxer, flat Earther, fascist or Elon Musk, just assume I called you a moron. It saves a lot of time.

Project Hail Mary. Should I read the book before seeing the film? Never got round to reading it when it first came out.

Flat Earth Dave highlights no real photos of Earth exist. The iconic 'Blue Marble' was created by Robert Simon, combining data and adding visually pleasing elements, even as iPhone wallpaper. They paint clouds and stitch images… “Because it has to be.” Several data sets from several different instruments, remove the clouds and color the oceans—space graffiti.

@2wheelsgoodBrum I very rarely filter on the right, unless I'm absolutely certain of a light sequence & the left route is blocked - it puts me too close to oncoming traffic for my comfort. Much better to filter left & slot in when you can.

Isn't it safer to filter on the right, rather than the left? That's sometimes true, especially if filtering past HGVs with poor visibility, but even the road designer assumes cyclists will filter left. The entry mark for this ASL is on the left. 5/10

Why did the cyclist do that? This video of a reckless driver endangering a cyclist, attracted replies claiming the problem was the cyclist. Understanding why cyclists ride as they do helps good drivers. If you have an open mind here's the reason ... 1/10 x.com/SaferRoadsYork…
Safer Roads Yorkshire@SaferRoadsYorks

What to do? See a cyclist filtering on your left and you want to turn left. Clue: don't overtake the cyclist cutting across their path as they signal right.

@LisaForteUK Flew from the UK to Schiphol once. It landed somewhere in Belgium and the taxi to the gate took longer than the flight.

@BikeabilityUK @ITVCentral I have a new, separate, lane on my commute. It's not great - it crosses a few rat run junctions that need care and a degree of hope. Waiting for my priority light signals slows me down compared with the on road route, but overall not being in traffic is so much better.

Brilliant to see our own Beccy Marston on @ITVCentral highlighting why protected cycle routes matter 🚲 “The number one reason people don’t cycle is because they don’t feel safe.” Safe infrastructure + quality training = confident, independent riders.

@but_cyclists Regardless of the legalities, that bike had plenry of "I might die if I don't slow down because that truck's turning" time. Never assume they've seen you. When you assume, you get your ass in a&e.

@ClarkeMicah @timreay That's electrical power, not electrical assistance. My morning's cycling was fuelled by baked goods. Was it not at all green?

.@timreay. It does not enable them to cycle. It enables them to ride around the roads on unregistered fast, heavy motor vehicles, without needing to pass a test or take out insurance. To do so they must use power from the grid, which is largely proivided by burning gas. So not green.
Tim Reay@timreay

@ClarkeMicah @gadboit True. But electrical assistance has enabled many more people to cycle, particularly in hillier regions. If it enables them to cycle instead of drive, if they couldn't otherwise cycle, that's green.

They tell us a rocket can push through nothing. No medium, no resistance, no air… yet somehow propulsion. In every real-world experience, movement requires something to push against, but suddenly physics changes when it leaves the ground. We’re asked to ignore our senses and trust animations instead. At some point faith isn’t in God anymore… it’s in institutions.

An armed leftist went out with a gun to deliberately interfere with legitimate law enforcement operations, and I’m seeing some “conservatives” on this site claim that it might be ICE’s fault that the guy is now dead. Insane. Some of you people will never fucking learn.
