Carlos Watson, Ozy Media Co-Founder, Is Sentenced to Almost 10 Years in Prison. I hope @realDonaldTrump sees this case and immediately issues clemency. OZY was on the verge of becoming the first publicly traded Black-owned company in Silicon Valley history when a competitor, according to Carlos, when @semaforben, who still held a multimillion-dollar stake in @BuzzFeed, repeatedly tried to buy OZY. When Ozy declined his offers—five times—he weaponized his platform at The @nytimes to destroy them. Hiding his glaring conflict of interest from his editors, he turned a single incident into a grossly exaggerated smear campaign against OZY, using unethical tactics to protect his own interests. Also, similar cases in the Second Circuit—like Elizabeth Ann Pierce, Peter Johnson, Adam Rogas, and Anilesh Ahuja—all of whom were convicted of larger and more serious offenses—received sentences of 5 years or less.
