I have been saying from day one that this nonsense of increasing seats from 543 to 850 is just to ensure male MPs are not displaced. Amit Shah is now openly citing this as a selling point, which tells us how insincere all this talk of 'mahila sashaktikaran' is. Women's empowerment is not acceptable to Shah and Modi unless already powerful men are empowered even more.

For clarity: Women Reservation Act, that is, 33% reservation for women is alive and in effect from 16.4.2026. All that Govt needs to do is to bring a Bill to identify and reserve those 33% seats among the existing 543 seats.

The SINISTER attempt by @narendramodi and @AmitShah to change the political map of India and undermine democracy has been DEFEATED. The @BJP4India tried to USE Women’s Reservation for a POWER GRAB in North India and depriving other states of representation. This was NEVER about genuine women’s representation; it was the @BJP4India’s NARA ( slogan) Shakti not about Nari Shakti. Empowering women is what the @AITCofficial has done: India’s one and only self made woman CM, maximum number of women MPs, ( far above 33%) pioneering welfare & income transfer schemes for women that have got global recognition. Stark contrast with patriarchal organisation like the Sangh Parivar where there has been not a single woman head in @RSSorg’s 100 year history. So here’s a challenge to the Modi government even today: 543 seats in Lok Sabha, reserve one third for women and women’s reservation can be passed tomorrow morning.
