Can I ask why, if a pensioner has worked all their life, they only have the state pension to rely on? Didn’t decide to save ? Put away for a rainy day ? Sounds like poor planning to me. And yes if your children have flown the nest and you, or you and your spouse are knocking around in a 3 or 4 bedroom house you bought decades ago- SELL it. You’ll have more than enough to live on.

The BBC can’t even afford to put on the boat race anymore. What exactly do we pay our licence fee for? No really? #boatrace

@ZackPolanski You really haven't got a clue, have you?. So in your warped mind, keep going for net zero and let utility bills keep shooting up. FFS.

Had a lot of nasty comments on here today. Been called a cunt, sworn at countless times. For asking a question. All by people old enough to be my parent. Going to reconsider whether being on here is a constructive use of my time

Why isn’t the state pension means tested to the same level as say child benefit. If you’re getting an income of 50k a year why can you claim a state pension on top

Might be a unpopular opinion but apart from a few Tournament games International Football has been dross for years! #LikeWatchingPaintDry

I know everyone is different, but when Labour came to office I was paying £180 a month and now I'm paying around £135 a month for gas and electric. Around £500 less a yr.

I would like to congratulate the old bloke interviewed on ITV this morning, filling up his car and also filling up a fuel can “just in case”. It’s morons like you that mean there’s no petrol at my two local supermarket filling stations for those of us who have to drive to work.

Energy bills are falling today as a result of action we have taken on the cost of living. The route to energy security and lower bills for good is through clean, homegrown power that we control. My latest for the @DailyMirror👇 mirror.co.uk/money/we-conti…

Morning from Westminster! From today, the National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage are rising. We’re cutting energy bills by an average of £117 a year. And we’re freezing prescription prices. We’re putting more money in your pocket.

From today, energy bills will fall by 7% for families across the country. We took the decision in the Budget to ask those with the broadest shoulders to pay their fair share, and today we see the result of that. Vital cost of living support delivered by this government.

From today, Labour has increased the minimum wage to £12.71 an hour, cut energy bills by £117, frozen prescription charges, expanded sick pay and brought in day one rights at work. Not bad for a government that’s supposedly “no different”.

Phil Rostron ⚽️👍🍻
On my way to North Wales yesterday, near Frodsham, I saw a convoy of 8 or 9 identical silver Rolls/Bentleys all with reg plates like this, all main beams on, shifting pretty rapidly.. Bizarrely, on the way home, I saw them again on the M62.. Any idea what/who?
