@stkjj @mwabilimwagodi @KaranjaMatindi Isn't it amazing how Lars Windhorst, German Wunderkind and protegee by chancellor Kohl, kept finding investors? Somehow that is a remarkable talent. Or a confirmation that we in Germany like to fall for guys like Benko, Real Estate Schneider and Windhorst.

When I actually think about it, Khalif Kairo has been live tweeting his con game. That stolen money is actually in the Cayman and he is now going to start a new life with it elsewhere. This is the greatest heist of the 21st century. He is not coming back to Kenya.

@ajaydsouza This happens frequently if users are focused on the issue they want to solve and don’t care about the efforts others make to provide support. Sometimes they ask on several forums hoping for faster solutions. Sometimes users solve the problem themselves and even forget they asked.

How often do you have support requests where the person disappears and never responds to you after the initial submission.

@chip_bennett @JJ__indy Due to complications during the birth, my wife and our daughter would both have died without a caesarean section. It wasn't even my wife's decision. How dare anyone say that she failed?

Listen to the person that did it people, all by himself I guess. No credit to the 50,000 plugin or theme authors, or the thousands of core contributors.

@pixolin @chip_bennett @CaseySoftware If he's competing in the market, then it's the place of everyone in that market to judge. I would personally much rather put a site on WPE than on dot com at this point.

@DuaneStorey @chip_bennett @CaseySoftware There's a lot I didn't understand about how Matt ran A8c and how WordPress.com tried to attract users. If “dinky personal sites” is the business model, he's probably served his customers well. It wasn't my place to judge and I don't want to start that now.

@CaseySoftware @chip_bennett @WordPress Well. Things have turned out very differently and we would probably all have continued to spend our energies arguing about Gutenberg if Matt hadn't betrayed his loyal community so badly over the last three months. 💔

@pixolin @chip_bennett @WordPress In a reasonable world, the WP Foundation would have forced automattic to be more specific/careful in their trademark usage to not confuse people with dotorg But matt demanding matt not be matt is a long shot

@mikehale @photomatt @automattic This—or he runs an app store for plugins/themes and a yearly plan to access the documentation. Contributors get tokens for free access the documentation. 🤪

@chip_bennett @CaseySoftware @WordPress Same in the w.org support forums. People google for "WordPress help" and are happy if they find a form field to paste the error message which drives them nuts. I never had a problem with that, but we always kindly asked them to visit the .com-forums.

@CaseySoftware @WordPress I should log back in to StackExchange and see how many posts were closed because the OP was on dot com rather than self-hosted WordPress. I don't ever remember the same issue with any other managed hosting service, including WPE.

@takisbig Could that be a further step to finally announce a yearly plan for access to the WordPress repositories and documentation for all website owners and developers?

Post economic toddler now fears he might go bankrupt, but god forbid if he would ever share the burden of supporting #WordPress dot org. No, it's either him or closure. This is how much he cares about this community and ecosystem.

@Storm_Barnicle @ckmontague @photomatt I agree it's pure speculation. Fear mongering wasn't intended. Theme developers already have a hard time. If you decide to go the FSE path, you can basically set up any layout yourself (given you are not an absolute beginner).

@Storm_Barnicle @ckmontague @photomatt Visiting a WordCamp costs about 1,000 € – flight, hotel, food, tickets, SIM card… Giving a session at meetups is less expensive as it's only travel costs and using your own equipment. If you volunteer you should consider you could have earned money in that time, too.

@ryanwebdev @tessak22 They are awesome, especially with the noise cancelling—as long as I don't move or yawn. Then they fall like raisins out of my ear. Is that just me?

@alvarogois @Wonderm00n @Bovelett @Tom_Voltz1 Futuristic. 👍🏻 Now soome catering with Pastel de nata and we are all booked. German railway (Deutsche Bahn) has become so bad, that we believe everything in the world must be better. Riding on the roof of trains is still an exception though.

@Bovelett @Tom_Voltz1 @Wonderm00n @pixolin You can travel from Badajoz to Lisboa by train but it'll take longer than a flight from Germany and would seem like a time travel in a 1950s train. The only perk would be to change trains near my home in Entroncamento. Not worthy.

Yeah, same here—I’d walk if that ever happened. Honestly, I wouldn’t give WordPress a dime unless @photomatt stepped back and let the community create an independent board to oversee WordPress.org’s future. Adding a payment structure like that would destroy what makes WordPress great: its accessibility and open nature. If they put up a barrier like that, WordPress can say goodbye to its 40% market share. Developers and users will move to platforms that stay true to their values. Trust is everything in a community-driven ecosystem, and moves like this would completely erode it. Once that trust is gone, it’s game over.
