@wjcarter Thanks Bill. You’re one of the few reasons I still check this musky platform. Your writing and insightful commentary remain sharply on target . All very well here

Hope you’re well, Peter!

@wjcarter Indeed it was! Unlike what Yogi said it was over before it was over! The guy who replaced me hung around for a quite a while though.

@TVMoJoe @wjcarter I always loved Captain Airwaves and remain grateful for his praise as it always had to be well earned. Thanks for the reminder.

@wjcarter One, among many reasons, is that actors are not being held under multi year series options and scheduling subsequent seasons for production less sure if series leads are not available…and yeah, one way or the other it’s always about the money.

One more "Rockford" observation. Not apples-to-apples but: In mid-70's, "Rockford" made 20+ eps a season. Ended in May-back in Sept. Today a good series, say, "The Bear," which I much enjoyed, made EIGHT eps in 1st season-will return w BOUNTY of 10(!) a YEAR later. Just sayin'...
Bill Carter@wjcarter

I'm tempted to ask why no existing distributor of TV series-streamer, broadcast network, cable network-could produce an exceptional, reliably entertaining private-detective series like "Rockford" today. Then I remember: there was only one James Garner.

My dad, Bene Lupica, of the 165th Bombardment Group, 783rd Bombardment Squadron, passed gently away this morning at 99. He was a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and the kindest and best man I have ever known. I loved him more than I can ever properly express.

Hard for me to even tweet about Willis Reed. Not only was he the heart and soul of the Knicks and THEY Captain, he ALWAYS stopped to sign autographs after games. Proud of have been there on May 8th. A true hero and icon.

@LeslieAnneWade @ATT The man behind the music was the legendary Doug Towey who headed CBS Sports promo production for many, many years. This one was Doug's baby and he birthed it & fought to protect it many times when would be wiser heads thought it past it's time. He's sadly gone but this shines on.

David Barrett never sold the rights to his “One Shining Moment” to CBS Sports. He “rents” it to the network every year. Who knew at the time how long it would last.? Written in 1986 it has been used since 1987. Turned out to be smart business deal and now the sound to @ATT commercial. PS - @ArmenKeteyian hooked his friend Barrett up with CBS.

@JFeinsteinBooks When the weekend ratings came out and showed the Pro Bowlers Tour with a higher rating than our college bb game opposite Billy would say the ratings were wrong, “Name me a bowler!” Admittedly we were stumped…and we were in the business!

Very sorry to hear about Billy Packer. Knew he'd been sick, but still sad news. We used to constantly, but I think he was best college hoops TV analyst ever. Told you what he thought, was usually right and never cared if people didn't like his analysis. Always enjoyed his company

Junior’s ranting about an article that supposedly says exercise is racist to black women. I read it. It’s an interview of author who wrote book about history of exercise in US. One part notes at turn of 20th century racists wanted white women in better shape to have more babies.

@DeeshaThosar Way too soon! Who will they sign and or trade for instead? Have a feeling that Mets will get a better return than Doug Flynn, Pat Zachry & Steve Henderson.

Curious how many agree with the sentiment below, re: trading Seaver?
Hal@HG_NYC

@DeeshaThosar Huge loss for the Mets. Maybe second in magnitude to trading Seaver.

Still in shock. Last night the IOC awarded me the Pierre De Coubertin Medal - one of the rarest Olympic awards. I became only the 44th recipient. When I look at the previous recipients - Kissinger, Agnelli, Prince Rainier, Samaranch, Zatopek don't feel worthy, but deeply honored
