Entebbe Airport has two runways, they both have different headings. The 17 / 35 is 3.6KM long and the 12 / 30 is 2.4KM long. The one commonly used for the international flights is thd 17/35 which is 3.6KM. Both runway surfaces are Asphalt. An airbus A380 can land there but will require the full length of the runway to land. It can land but not rountinely operate. The runway can accomodate a Boeing 777, 747 ( the larger series) among other planes. The elevation is 3782ft above sea level. ICAO code is HUEN broken down as H -standards for the region ( H indentifies African countries) U -Indicates the country ( U standing for Uganda ) EN - Indentifies the airport within the country ( EN stands for Entebbe ) These codes were establised in 1947 by the International Civil Aviation Organization ( ICAO )after the end of World War II. To easily indentify airports around the world. Kindly note these codes are meant to be used or are used by Pilots and air traffic controllers. This is the only picture i have of the Entebbe runway and it isn’t recent. I took it while training for my multi engine rating. Class dismissed….
