@KiranManral It is sad to see how it is being misused by corporations by offering people a shortcut. This will have negative consequences. People fail to understand that the benefits of GLP-1 apply only to those for whom the health risks of obesity outweigh the potential downsides of GLP-1.

I'm seeing hoardings and ads for GLP all over. I'm seeing folks stuffing their faces, not working out and jabbing themselves. No judgement, but there are serious health consequences to GLP jabs. The companies producing these GLP jabs are reframing it as a scientific method to weight loss, trying to destigmatise obesity and reframe it as a disease. Celebrities have been roped in for the campaign. I am conflicted. I do not like this messaging. There should be no stigma either for obesity or thinness. I say this as someone who was obese for most of her childhood and her early youth. I've been there, I know what it feels like to be the fat, funny friend. The overlooked girl in one's teens. But I also know that jabbing oneself with drugs to bring one's weight down and continuing with the terrible dietary habits cannot be good. If you combine this with a good switch to healthy eating and working out, I'm still on board. What is your take on this?

@saaiyer @mindmusclepro Yes have seen this first hand too. Have been on low carb high protein high fat diet for 4 years. Weight never budged -cut out one meal and weight shifted in past 2 months! Learned the hard way calorie deficit matters 🤷‍♀️thank you for the experiment @mindmusclepro - cleared a lot !

When the cookie crumbles, in whichever way, ultimately you have to create an energy deficit. Whether you are consciously doing it or not. Quality and quantity of calories will always matter. The former will influence weight loss, the latter will have hormones at play and influence fat loss.

First out of all, this was just an experiment for a few months. I'm back in shape now. Most of you got it right. The single biggest reason was an excess Calories from Fats. Only scenario under which you gain Weight is a Calorie surplus. Cheese, Fish, Eggs, Malai Paneer, Avocado, Mutton, Added ghee (I was liberal in using it) are all Super Calorie heavy. 100g of that Amul Paneer is itself 320 Kcal, I used 400g of Paneer in that 3rd meal pic. That alone is 1280 Kcal. Add 4 cheese slices & Avocado. Better not say further. The whole diet was Fat bombs. I was seeing the Carb Insulin model aka the Insulin spikes model failing in some clients. So I thought I'll investigate. There would be no spiking from any of these foods, yet I gained fat. Because Calories do matter! You are not a Type 1 to use the "no insulin no fat gain" logic. You have Insulin, you always do. Even if you fasted for 20 days. So if you feel I'm have changed my stance on why Low Carb. It's because: - Self experiment - Deep look into studies (like Dr Roy taylor studies) - Client results - Practicality & Sustainability - Getting out of echo chamber & questioning everything I believed with open mind. In fact, the reason why many lose weight on Low Carb diet is because - Protein is satiating & you get into a calorie deficit easily (unless you pick all the wrong sorts of Fatty Protein like I did here) - You cut out a lot of Processed food & limits options - You drain glycogen & lose water weight almost immediately - You feel Satiated easily by eating similar kind of food always (much like how you may fill yourself up by eating a biryani & can't eat any more, but if given an ice-cream you can eat more. It's called Sensory specific satiety) & The reason why many Low Carbers get stuck with Weightloss after a point is - You pick highly energy dense Proteins thinking fats are free food & overdo Calories, especially if physically not very active. - You screw up your thyroid if your body is being stressed by restrictive diet (not for everyone) (If you are stuck in a cult mindset at this point, then you live in denial & find reasons to defend a diet that stopped working for you) Those who are stuck in their journey, add some carbs back, reduce some fats, pick leaner protein sources, be more active. To sum up, it's time to let go of this Carbs -> Insulin spike -> Fat gain model Calories absolutely matters, so does the quality of Calories. ........ About how a Diabetic would do on this sort of high Fat low Carb diet 👇 Cut out Carbs means less Glucose in system (other than Liver produced ones), reduced HbA1C is expected atleast in the short term as a result of reduced Glucose area under the curve. But always remember Diabetes is not just high glucose. It's a larger phenomenon. But it's diagnostic criteria is based on Glucose. But unless your visceral fat is reduced (which will not happen in a calorie surplus), the underlying issues will persist or even worsen. Infact my Fasting Insulin went from 3.5 to 6 in this period. Still great, but the signs were clear. So even though it might initially improve, without a Calorie deficit it will come back or worsen in the future. I have seen many cases of HbA1C dropping sharply on LCHF, but fasting Insulin staying were it is. Many of these fruit- naturopathic juice diets etc work in reducing Diabetes because of a huge Calorie deficit & thereby Fat loss. But the problem is in those cases is that without Protein, along with fat loss their will be muscle loss & that will catch up & worsen issues later. & Finally, Intermittent fasting has a lot of benefits, but even at 2 meals a day excess calories is excess calories. They won't miraculously disappear. Special mention to @VegDietCoach @ItIsMikeFitz @martykendall2 @alexleaf @tednaiman @DrEenfeldt & others for opening my eyes beyond the Dogma.

I ate all my meals like this (High Protein- Almost no Carbs) & gained weight in that period. Workout didn't change, Protein intake didn't change. What's the reason?
