🚨🚨 BREAKING: Auditors have discovered Minneapolis-level fraud within the Memphis/Shelby County School system. "Significant" contractors did not even have addresses. Millions in fraud, waste and abuse already uncovered and the audit is only 25 percent complete. The school board is controlled 100 percent by Democrats. Not a single Republican on the board.

@conor64 The anti-science from the public health institutions. People who had Covid and had long-term and short-term antibodies proven with antibody tests (which were multiple times more effective than the so called vaccine) were fired from their jobs. This was evil.

A question for everyone: survey data suggests that by the end of the Covid-19 emergency trust in public health institutions had decreased significantly. If you are among the people who reacted that way, why specifically? I'm hoping for long, diverse, individualized answers.

@mattmurphyshow The new budget for Metro Nashville is now $17,300 per student. The budget has grown over 50% while enrollment has dropped. Meanwhile only 30% of the students are at least proficient.

As someone who supported the TN ESF and its passage last year, I have a question. Why are we rushing to grow the program before we have all of the first year data? Shouldn’t we see scores and look over demographics of who benefited across the state? Get a full year under our belt before the massive expansion? I’m not attacking those advocating for this position. Just wondering why the urgency. Follow up: is something affecting only 4% of students in TN at an additional cost of 330 million a good ROI? How do we know without seeing the numbers?

I used to think that Sam Cooper stopping at Overton Park was a contributor to Memphis‘s economic challenges. But after seeing other major cities with highways tearing through the center of downtown, I think we got lucky. Not to say we don’t have our transportation problems, but keeping Overton Park and all the cool side streets in Midtown / crosstown/ edge was a direct product of not bulldozing a huge tract of land for cars.

Looking over the board members of @NESpower reveals no people with actual utility experience. The chair is an environmental lawyer academian. Inept.

@JakeMcCalmonTN @NESpower Jake, why don’t Williamson County residents in NES have any say in the governance? All 5 NES board members are appointed by Nashville Mayor. Williamson County NES customers has no say, no voice and no vote. It is taxation without representation. Can you do something?

The list was based on average burdens, but you're right—progressive taxes like California's mean lower effective rates for middle class. Using ITEP's 2024 data for middle 20% income groups, here's the top 10 by property + income tax %: 1. Tennessee: 2.0% + 0.2% = 2.2% 2. Alaska: 2.6% + 0.1% = 2.7% 3. North Dakota: 2.7% + 0.1% = 2.8% 4. Wyoming: 2.9% + 0% = 2.9% 5. South Dakota: 2.9% + 0% = 2.9% 6. Nevada: 2.5% + 0.6% = 3.1% 7. Washington: 3.2% + 0% = 3.2% 8. Texas: 3.5% + 0% = 3.5% 9. Florida: 3.5% + 0.1% = 3.6% 10. Oklahoma: 2.1% + 2.6% = 4.7% California: 3.3% + 1.4% = 4.7% (ties ).

I asked AI to compute the 10 cheapest states to live in based on income tax + property tax. Results: 1.Tennessee: 1.64% + 0.00% = 1.64% 2.Nevada: 2.15% + 0.00% = 2.15% 3.South Dakota: 2.41% + 0.00% = 2.41% 4.Florida: 2.59% + 0.00% = 2.59% 5.Washington: 2.64% + 0.00% = 2.64% 6.Wyoming: 2.81% + 0.00% = 2.81% 7.North Dakota: 2.28% + 0.85% = 3.13% 8.Oklahoma: 1.62% + 1.78% = 3.40% 9.Alaska: 3.46% + 0.00% = 3.46% 10.Texas: 3.55% + 0.00% = 3.55% It used WalletHub’s tax-burden dataset (each expressed as a percent of residents’ personal income) and ranked states by Property Tax Burden % + Individual Income Tax Burden %.

@ScottPresler Depends. If Republicans want to win elections they should vote early. If they want to prove a point, they should continue to vote on Election Day only which costs them 5% of the total vote margin.

So, if Republicans aren’t going to turn out — & Election Day performance is incredibly poor — are people going to finally concede that we should get Republicans to vote early & vote by mail? Thinking out loud.

@annbauerwriter Encouraging the love of reading didn’t start at 8 years old. Starts at birth or even before. But find out what their area of interests are. Buy books on those topics. Give them a bedroom time of X but then they can stay up for an hour if reading. Ban phone’s from bedroom.

Let’s be clear. The 7th Congressional District was designed to be uncompetitive. Trump won it by 22% one year ago. They carved Nashville into 3 districts to tilt the scales. The plummeting support for the President today shows no Republican is safe in 2026.
