Don't give up hope yet. The VGHF YouTube video may be found by someone who worked in one of those cable companies who may yet have the discs with that data. The early online service preservation scene has already made great strides, we can still do more! (Someone on the Satellaview side left after the recent BS F-Zero dump with a "we peaked" rationale, only for a really early Wario No Mori to be found shortly after, to make the point.)

The Sega Channel 1997M Menu demo (Which would correspond to first half July 1997) seems incomplete in a way that makes me think it did not actually broadcast like the others. @GamingAlexandri @GameHistoryOrg Screenshot is an example. Another example is that the Prize-O-Rama section is identical to 1997L, text description of prize and all. The menu also takes the shape of a web browser window, which I think would have stood out majorly in people's memories if it did broadcast. It'd be good to have a hard confirmation of when the Sega Channel service ended, since not a lot is clear in that regard. It doesn't seem like it has a proper "finale" broadcast if what I'm looking at here includes the final moments. (I'm doing this in part because all those lame fan-made "final broadcast" videos annoy me due to how grossly inaccurate they are.)

This was/is my original goal for MiSTer but getting the ROM hacks running was a fun exercise I could do in a limited amount of time during the holidays. To emulate Sega Channel more thoroughly will require streaming data to mimic the broadcast and proper chip emulation.

My take on it is this: Anything you 100% cannot do without (eg: you are gluten free and need special flour) and anything you cannot substitute for in any fashion (eg: cooking oil of some kind). Unless you are a hunter I would then start with shelf stable protein: beans, chickpeas, canned chicken, salmon, tuna, and things that are impossible to grow such as rice, flour sugar etc. I keep two tins each of powered eggs and milk. I would also add canned or frozen fruit, veggies. But if you can grow some that's great! Frozen tastes better but if you lose power you are screwed. You are smart to get running shoes. I am going to do that now!

Going to post a few low key, not psycho prepper ideas this week. If you have growing children, consider buying their winter coats and some clothing a size or two up now. You are going to need it either way. Can't hurt.

App is Brie en croute w fig preserves. Dinner is Roasted ham w pan gravy, dinner rolls, leek and apple sage stuffing, twice baked Mac, scalloped potatoes, grilled asparagus, simple greens and salad, cheesecake w caramel sauce and/or pecan pie w ice cream.

Tonight is our belated Easter dinner w my bro SIL and the twins. Set a simple table but made a delish meal. Rocking my bubblegum pink overalls bc, hey, it’s family!
