I read it as a kid and was inspired to do real techie stuff rather than the nonsense in his book.

@ukads3 The irony is that I now pay £450 a year for Netflix, Prime and YouTube, and still don’t feel like I’m getting the same value as I did then.
The world has changed a lot since then though, and it’s much harder for the BBC to compete, but the principle is still worth paying for.

@robertgraham @schassis_eddi @IAmMandatory And I used such a service to receive a 2FA SMS once. I rented the number for 15 mins. For 100,000 SIMs, that would be 110 SMSs a sec. Obviously much more than that is happening, but still - peanuts.

@robertgraham @schassis_eddi @IAmMandatory BTW, SMS uses a tiny fraction of bandwidth of modern network bandwidth - literally 160 bytes per SMS. 5 SMS’s would be 1KB on a cell capable of many Gbps.
