I just want to share how my sword detection work. Instead of tracing from sword base to sword tip every frame like most souls like tutorials do, I traced from sword previous position to sword current position at multiple points starting from the base to tip. #indiegame #unity3d

@verbose5432 @Goob_Goombas @kerissakti I haven't seen a single indie dev besides this post say that lmao. Most of them are struggling to break even if they can even release, and back breaking fees by the largest market make it unlikely they'll make enough capital to make a second game. It's a regressive system.

@UnityCodeMonkey C, but still the 'framerate independence' actually relies on the assumption that current framerate wont deviate too much from previous one (which is what the deltaTime actually is)

@LucaBoechat I don’t truly know. I don’t have any friends who did cod’s tech art, nor do I have access to the info. But I’d do it with Parallax Occlusion Mapping. Depending on your engine’s limitations, there are a few ways to do it, but POM is definitely the simplest. I’ve done it in Unity.

@AlexCaswen @N00b_B1scu1t @KatDoes3D Holographics sight and RDS works using different principles (one using holographics laser projection, the other using reflection), but they function are similar, to project the reticle into certain distance. And no I havent looked through a real HWS, but I do own some RDS

Here's why your optic's reticle needs to have depth, and not just have the reticle stuck to the glass. Both of these animations are the exact same. The only difference is how far out the reticle is being rendered. #b3d

@AlexCaswen @KatDoes3D I have both open red dot sight and tube red dot sight, and Im sure they are not just some red dot stuck to the glass. They are led light projected into some distance (50 to 100m) by reflecting the led light using a convex coated glass.

@Okami13_ This is most likely a placeholder that they forgot to remove. (The game is gigantic - easy for something like this to slip through) Looks like something that's generated by early models from 2022 or so.

AI art has been found in Crimson Desert. This wall painting was spotted in the game and is clearly AI generated. There are other potential examples as well, incredibly disappointing.
