Does anyone have a truly legitimate football reason for why they like Alonso so much? 1) His Leverkusen team's build-up play was much slower than any of Slot's teams have ever been. If you've been complaining about slow possession football, then it's illogical to then beg for a manager whose system is slower and more possession-centric. 2) Do we really want to become a team that uses a back 5? 3) He failed at Madrid. 4) Slot's LFC smacked him 4-0. The biggest reason I can find is "aura" which basically translates to people just fancy him a little?

He failed at Real Madrid and he won’t succeed with his style of play at Liverpool with playing 3 at the back and it he played Arne slot twice and lost both….So this should tell you how terrible he might be if he’s appointed….. The rebuild job that Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes will have done over 3 summers will actually have been completely unprecedented. Man City are in a similar vein right now. Since Viana came in they've been in a monumental transition period and they're just one summer away from completing it by selling Stones/Bernardo/Kovacic etc. But what Liverpool will have had to do over the last few summers is the biggest squad refresh I've ever seen in modern football.
