International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination Today, we join communities around the world in recognizing the urgent need to eliminate discrimination in all its forms. This day is a powerful reminder that every individual, organization, and level of government has a role to play in confronting injustice, dismantling racism, and standing firmly against hate. Let’s continue to strengthen our collective commitment to building communities where everyone is respected, valued, and afforded equal access, safety, and opportunity. #EndRacism #ableg #abtory #abpoli #alberta #albertatory

Let’s be honest about what’s happening. When people push narratives about “foreign kids” in schools, it feeds racial resentment while ignoring truths: many of those children are Canadian citizens. Especially in the early grades. Misleading the public helps nobody. #abpoli edmontonjournal.com/news/local-new…

Are Albertans’ savings being put at risk? Why is the government blurring the lines between a protected trust and a high-risk investment scheme? Alberta’s $32 billion Heritage Trust Fund exists to protect long-term savings for future generations. But the UCP has created a separate “Heritage Fund” targeting hedge-fund-level returns - and is presenting the two as if they are the same. They are not. In the Legislature this week I asked the Premier whether Albertans’ savings are being exposed to higher risk - including borrowing billions to invest in volatile markets and using public funds to backstop projects private capital has already rejected. Watch the exchange. The Tory Party believes Alberta’s savings should be protected, grown responsibly, and kept insulated from political misuse. Watch the clip. #abpoli #ableg #alberta #heritagetrustfund #abtory #albertatory

If government spending is appropriate… why hide the records? The UCP has removed a key legislative mechanism that allowed MLAs to demand detailed records on government spending. Why eliminate transparency tools? Albertans deserve to know who is being paid, how much is being spent, and whether public dollars are funding political messaging. Government communications are becoming increasingly centralized and opaque. In this video, I explain why that matters. The Tory Party @progressivetory believes transparency is not optional - it’s the foundation of responsible government. #abtory #albertatory #ableg #abpoli #alberta

Referendum Questions Should Unite Albertans, Not Divide Them I want to address the government’s attempt to shift attention to immigration as a distraction from its own fiscal decisions and budget pressures. Alberta’s budget challenges in health care, education, and affordability did not begin with immigration, and it is misleading for government to suggest otherwise. These pressures stem from years of rapid spending growth, insufficient long-term planning, and structural decisions made by government - including a 23% increase in spending and a significant expansion of the public sector over the past three years. At the same time, Alberta actively encouraged population growth through initiatives like “Alberta is Calling,” and that growth - from both immigration and interprovincial migration - has strengthened our economy and workforce. Blaming newcomers distracts from the real issue: a government whose spending choices now require roughly $75 oil just to balance the budget. It also risks undermining Alberta’s economic future, as many critical sectors - including health care, construction, retail, agriculture, tourism and skilled trades - rely on newcomers to fill essential roles. Creating uncertainty or hostility toward those who contribute to our workforce may discourage skilled professionals and workers from choosing Alberta, making it harder for businesses to grow and for public services to function effectively. Introducing referendum questions that single out vulnerable groups risks creating division rather than solving problems. Responsible leadership means planning for growth, maintaining fiscal discipline, and ensuring public services keep pace - not vilifying people who chose Alberta in good faith. Albertans deserve leadership focused on restoring a balanced budget, improving productivity, and delivering reliable public services. The solutions lie in better governance, sound financial management, and genuine accountability - not scapegoating or political distraction. #FiscalResponsibility #ableg #abpoli #alberta #albertatory #abtory

.@BarackObama: "Bad Bunny's halftime show... This is what a community is. People who did not speak Spanish and have never been to Puerto Rico, they saw that elderly woman serving a drink and the kids dancing with their grandmas. It was intergenerational. It was a reminder of what Dr. King called the beloved community can look like... There's room for everybody here. And that I think is where we win."

TL;DR: Alberta would need 11 hospitals in Edmonton and Calgary to be resourced to the Canadian average. 1/6 🏥 Why is Alberta’s healthcare system under such strain? It’s not "management"—it’s a numbers problem 40 years in the making. Let’s look at the data. 🧵 #AbLeg #CdnHealth

This letter gets it absolutely right - “Judges must fairly and independently apply the law, not produce outcomes that suit the government of the day.” - we cannot create the society Smith wants, where the laws don’t apply if you have friends in high places. #ableg

We have come to expect this kind of politicization of the courts in the United States, but it should never happen in Canada. Independent and non-partisan judges andcourts are the bedrock of Canada’s democracy and paramount to the rule of law.

Best in Show is available on Netflix right now & I’m going to continue pushing this film on my timeline for the foreseeable future because every single person alive should watch this movie. Catherine O’Hara was a comedic genius. I don’t know how else to put it. We lost a giant.

I sincerely hope that mine is just one of many portraits of Prime Ministers from both parties that will continue to be hung in the Parliament of Canada for decades and centuries to come […] but that will require that in these perilous times both parties whatever their differences, come together to preserve the independence and unity of this blessed land.
