@SenMarkKelly Today I learned that Mark Kelly doesn't know the difference between a flu vaccine and a smallpox vaccine.

George Washington believed that vaccinating his troops against smallpox was the key to winning the Revolutionary War and our independence. A founding father from 250 years ago had a better understanding of science and military readiness than Pete Hegseth.

Breaking news: The military will no longer require U.S. troops to receive the annual flu vaccine, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, rolling back what he described as “overreaching mandates that only weaken our war-fighting capabilities.” wapo.st/4dZY8UL

Two further points: 1. Common consent doesn't mean that all 18 million members in 190 countries must agree on a policy to sustain it before it goes into effect. Seriously, how on earth could that possibly work? Some of you folks don't think about this stuff. The Church needs to function, and sometimes move quickly on matters. The Lord knows this, and He's quite okay with it. 2. It's ok to have personal dislikes about Church matters. I have some myself! That's not the point, though. Don't get online and publicly vent your spleen about it. Keep private dislikes and issues private. That's how you faithfully sustain while still keeping your brain. I find it risible - yes, risible - that I have to break this down for some of you.

@Latterdaytruth Listen to the wording next time you're in the temple. The wording for what you covenant to do with the law of consecration is different than the wording of the other laws in the temple. It didn't go away. It's just different right now.

It mattered very much to me. I was always all about paying based on net. I paid a 10th of the amount that I received after deductions. My family and I received many spiritual and financial blessings. Given what was going on in my life and the debts I had to pay off, I don't know how - except for through true blessings from God - I even met our expenses. But I did. It didn't math. But it happened. But then I was faced with a significant financial burden and threat on my future finances that would have done terrible damage to me and my family temporally. We prayed, we fasted, and did everything we could do to remove this burden and this threat. But it was not going away. I realized I needed to sacrifice more, to exercise faith, and would this receive the blessing we needed. So, I started paying on gross income despite the new major financial burden and troubling future. I did this faithfully for a few months while praying for relief. And then it happened. The burden was lifted and the threat went away all at once. Beyond a renewed witness of the blessing of tithing, I learned that once you get used to paying tithing, comfortable with it in your finances, then you may need to give more. It needs to feel like a sacrifice to you, not just numbers on a ledger. You need to give of your substance, not just your excess. This can be larger fast offerings, humanitarian aid, or whatever. But sacrifice is critical to faith, to growth, and to receiving blessings.

Does it really matter how I calculate my tithing? Yes. It matters a LOT. The Doctrine and Covenants defines tithing as "one-tenth of all [your] interest," which the Church Handbook further clarifies as "income." Beyond that specific definition, the Church generally leaves the mechanics of the calculation to the individual. While the "gross vs. net" debate is common, we rarely put numbers on the conversation. To see how much these interpretations diverge in practice, I ran a case study for a hypothetical family with a stable, comfortable income and a 25% savings rate across eight different plausible methodologies of calculating tithing-- all of which I have heard from active, recommend-holding Latter-day Saints. For a family making $150,000/year, the difference between the lowest and highest interpretations in this scenario is nearly $21,000! 😮 Why the Numbers Matter This exercise isn't meant to prescribe a specific method or define what is "right." For that, see the Handbook and the words of the Prophets (churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/g…). But the Lord instructs us to "count the cost" (Luke 14:27-33) and be informed and intentional about our discipleship. This case study should help ground the conversation and decisions around tithing calculation. Explore the Data If you want to see how these different "lenses" change the math for your own household, you can view and copy the calculation spreadsheet here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

podcasts can cost money to maintain, so if he loses, he'd likely have to shut it down entirely though it's still true he will likely still have plenty of precious money lining his pockets anyway. I say that because I doubt he's doing any of this for free money is usually the go-to for anything nefarious or manipulative/deceitful

It’s official: the Sheriff’s Office has no report of any threat against UVU or Sharon McMahon. If there is no credible threat, then it’s wrong to leave these students without a commencement speaker. They’ve been through so much and deserve a message of healing and hope, a message that encourages them to take what they’ve experienced and use it to make the world a better place. @UVU should ensure these students still have an inspirational speaker for their commencement—someone who can show up for them in this moment and help mark it with meaning, hope, and encouragement for how to move forward. @CalebChilcutt @TPUSAatUVU

Rep. Thomas Massie voted alongside Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to strip President Trump of his war powers. As Iran continues to pursue nuclear capabilities and threatens American interests, Kentucky needs leaders who stand firmly with President Trump and the America First agenda—not politicians who align with the far Left. If Thomas Massie no longer represents the values of Kentucky or this nation, voters should make their voices heard on May 19th and send him packing.

🚨 JUST NOW: Liberal Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is being CALLED OUT for BRAZENLY launching an attack on her fellow justices, going FULL anti-Trump "The Court's stay decisions can, at times, come across utterly irrational!!" 🤡 "We cannot expect the public to have faith in our judicial system if, without clear explanation, we consistently greenlight harmful acts that do real damage!" FOX LEGAL EDITOR: "The speech that she gave here, it took some serious chutzpah. She's only been on the court for a couple of years."' "She's the most junior member of the court, and yet she went to Yale and gave a speech where she says, basically, my colleagues are getting it all wrong, and I can be the catalyst for change!" "And you have to remember, Ketanji Brown Jackson has basically been a rubber stamp for the lower courts that are just blocking every single thing that the Trump administration is trying to do." @Kerri_Kupec

The only defense that they have offered to the premise that "The God of Calvinism is morally abhorrent" is to say, "Well, I believe that you believe that your God is an exalted man from another planet." And to complain that they don't feel that Jacob (and other apologists) are nice enough to them despite THEIR own decades of harassing Latter-Day Saints attending Easter pageants at the Mesa Temple. They keep losing the debate again and again every time they talk about it.

I think the most interesting reaction to the debate on Calvinism is that so far, as far as I can tell, there still hasn’t been any defense of the points Jacob raised against Calvinist theology. Dr. White seems to want to focus on Latter-day Saint beliefs, as if disproving Mormonism would somehow prove the virtue of a God who predestines vessels of wrath to hell for his glory. That, and that Latter-day Saints seem to want to go into a public civil war over an open question in our theology. But, whatcha gonna do. 🤷‍♂️
